The availability of courses in HuskyCT varies. Generally, courses are available by the first class meeting date. If a course is listed as “unavailable” after the first class meeting, please inquire with your instructor or the course director. Medical students may also contact the HOME office in the School of Medicine.

HuskyCT is UConn's name for the Blackboard learning management system used here. Instructor use of the system is optional but we host over 4000 HuskyCT sites a semester, most of which are used for face-to-face classes. Fully online classes use HuskyCT as well. The use of HuskyCT is so widespread in fact, that students expect to see a HuskyCT site for each class they are taking and are worried when they don’t. A recent survey revealed that the most common uses of HuskyCT for traditional classes is sending announcements, posting content, and posting grades. Many instructors are also using HuskyCT for the online submission of assignments, discussion, and quizzes.
The HuskyCT site is created automatically within 24 hours of the request and all students registered for the course are automatically enrolled on the HuskyCT site. Please note that the instructor must be listed in PeopleSoft as the instructor for a particular class in order to request a HuskyCT site for that class.
Instructors can use “Student Preview” to view their sites exactly as their students see them. When exiting Student Preview, instructors have the choice of retaining the preview user data or not. If the Preview User data is retained, a new student will appear in the Grade Center. The last name for this preview student account will be the instructor’s last name followed by “_PreviewUser”. Student Preview mode can be used to take tests, submit assignments, access materials, and check grades.
To request a course merge, please use this form: Course Copy/Restore Request. The form can be used to request a combine sections and/or restore course materials.
Instructors have the ability to enroll additional users on their HuskyCT sites. Anyone with a UConn NetID can be manually added to a HuskyCT site. For detailed steps, please review: Enrolling Additional Users .pdf .pdf
Instructors may open their HuskyCT site (s) earlier or later than the default start date. For step by step instructions for changing the start/end dates of your HuskyCT course, please review: Changing Student Access Dates .pdf .pdf
After several semesters in HuskyCT, instructors may find their list of courses has become overwhelming. To optimize the display of courses (group, hide, sort, etc.), please follow the steps in Optimizing Course Lists in HuskyCT
LockDown Browser (LDB) is a secure browser for taking tests in Husky CT. LDB prevents you from printing, copying, going to another URL, or accessing other applications during a test. If a test in HuskyCT requires LDB, you will not be able to take the test with a standard web browser.
If you were recently added to a course, please allow up to 24 hours for HuskyCT to receive the update, before contacting your instructor. If 24 hours have passed and your instructor has confirmed the course is offered in HuskyCT, please contact ITS Help Center.
If you are having issues connecting to or logging in to HuskyCT, please contact ITS Help Center.
The UITS Help Center and Blackboard 24/7 Support are not permitted to reset exam or assignment attempts. For help with in-class materials, please first consult your instructor.
Courses are offered in HuskyCT at the discretion of the instructor. Therefore, all courses at UConn Health may not have an associated HuskyCT site. If you are officially registered in a course that is not listed in HuskyCT after the start date of the semester, please inquire with your instructor.
Courses from prior semesters are generally not open to students. You should first contact your instructor and obtain permission to access materials from the prior semester. Your instructor will update the course availability date and your enrollment status. If your instructor approves the request and you're still having difficulty accessing the course, please contact ITS Help Center.
If you have uploaded the wrong file for an assignment, you contact your instructor directly. The UITS Help Center is not permitted and does not have access to reset assignment attempts. The instructor, at his/her discretion, may reset your assignment attempt.
With this method, your course is queued directly at a time of your choosing and will be available at the very next import for that specific semester.
Your course will be queued for import when it is processed by HuskyCT admins. You will receive an email confirmation when a HuskyCT admin completes this process.
This method of import is the most variable. The periodic import that HuskyCT admins run is a snapshot of the available courses in PeopleSoft at the time of the snapshot.
For additional assistance with connectivity and login issues, course availability, enrollment and other HuskyCT course status questions, visit the Technology Support Center in Babbidge Level 1, call them at (860) 486-4357, or email them at techsupport.uconn.edu .
The Group tool allows instructors to organize students into various groups (or teams). These groups can then be associated with specific assignments, assessments, blogs, journals, wikis, etc. Groups can also be created to facilitate communication (email) with a specific section of the course. Detailed information is available via Blackboard Help .
HuskyCT course sites are created for each course section activated in the Student Administration System ( PeopleSoft). When instructors teach more than one section of the same course, or it’s cross-listed, it may be desirable to combine them into one HuskyCT course site. This article will provide faculty and staff with different methods ...
Instructors. When course sections are merged, you will see both the parent and child sections, as shown below. All activity should be administered from the parent section. To reduce the possibility of publishing content to the wrong section, child sections are listed as unavailable.
All activity should be administered from the parent section. To reduce the possibility of publishing content to the wrong section, child sections are listed as unavailable.
Course content, grades, student-submitted assignments, discussion board posts, group work, tests, and surveys do not transfer to the parent. As such, it’s important that requests to combine courses are completed before adding content or allowing students to submit data.
Course combine requests are processed by the HuskyCT team (ITS).
1. The first setting will prevent students from exiting the browser until the exam is completed. This sometimes used in testing centers where a proctor can enter a password to exit an exam early.

4d. Note that if you copy Settings, and the source course is Available, the new course will be set to Available. If you choose Settings and you want the new course to remain unavailable, be sure to switch it back off after the copy is complete (Main tab – click on the green “O” next to the course).
Voicethread links will need to be clicked to reassociate them with the actions in Voicethread and with your new course. You may want to make copies of your existing Voicethreads prior to this in order to link the new versions in your new course. Be sure to only include your own comments so to protect the privacy of your previous students.
If you use Panopto streaming media in your course and want last semester’s videos available in the current course, there are a couple of additional steps. You will need to commission the new course in order to give access to this semester’s course users. See instructions.
If you use Panopto dropbox for student submssion of media, you will need to retain both the current and the past folders, as in Example 1. If you provide access to your Panopto content as in Example 2, the list of available videos will look a bit less user-friendly, but still works.
Blackboard will confirm your request and send you an email when the export file is complete.
The copy or import processes do not impact the availability of reserves items at the library or the display of library resources on the Course Reserves list in the library catalog.
