The course codes are basically a State Department of Education's, a District's and/or school's “shorthand” for course titles. However course codes are determined, they need to reflect a logical system of coding.
Colleges use course codes to describe and organize their courses in a way that can be easily understood by both colleges and students (if said students have translation guides, that is). They consist of four important blocks of information.
Under Registration click Add class with Access Code (also known as an add code). Enter the course section number under Synonym/Section, select the appropriate term, and enter the access code under Add Code. You can enter multiple courses at once.
Only courses numbered 100-299 will count as transferrable. Any courses with a number outside of this range are not transferrable. For example:Math 101 is transferrable.Math 89 is NOT transferrable.
The first number refers to the department or area of the course; the second number refers to the specific course. For example, in the course designated 600:111 the "600" refers to the Department of Art and the "111" refers to the course. Courses numbered 0-99 are primarily designed for freshman and sophomore students.
The Canvas course number is located at the end of the course URL. To locate your course's Canvas course number within the course URL (browser address), navigate to your course's homepage.

Good Standing. Students are considered in “Good Standing” when the cumulative Modesto Junior College (MJC) GPA is 2.0 or better and when less than 50% of the overall units attempted have the following grades: “W,” “I,” “NC,” and “NP.”.
If you are on Dismissal status and would like to request readmission, you must attend a workshop and meet with a counselor by the established deadline for that semester. If you have been approved for readmission you must continue to request approval for readmission every semester until you are back in good standing.
Every semester MJC calculates standings for all students and makes a notation on the transcript. For students who are on probation and/or dismissed status, a notification will be e-mailed to the student e-mail account shortly after the beginning of each term. The Academic Senate at MJC has defined academic integrity and identified possible means for maintaining academic integrity at the College. The following are violations of academic integrity.
A statement of the application of the Academic Integrity Procedure within his/her course. A statement notifying students that violations of the Academic Integrity Procedure will be reported.
Disciplinary action for violating academic integrity is administered by the Student Discipline Officer under Board Policy & Procedure 5500 Standards of Conduct.
Students are free to take reasoned exception to the data or views offered in any course of study and to reserve judgment about matters of opinion, but they are responsible for learning the content of any course of study for which they are enrolled.
Effective Spring 2021, students will not receive an EW (excused withdrawal) automatically. When students drop a course by the "last day to drop" deadline, they will receive a W. Students who have experienced an extenuating circumstance can submit a General Student Petition to request an Excused Withdrawal (EW) grade instead of the Withdrawal (W) or non-passing (D, F, FW & NP) grades.
Summer 2021, you can choose P/NP grade option for full term courses until August 6, 2021. Students should meet with a counselor to determine if P/NP meets their academic goals. Pass/No Pass is not part of your GPA calculation. Whether you receive a Pass or a No Pass, it does not affect your GPA.
