How do I approve VLACS courses?

A Parent/Guardian will need to sign into their account to approve the student's course requests. You will receive a welcome email from an instructor within five days of being assigned to help you schedule your welcome call. Enrollment is official once that call is complete.

How do I Unenroll from a VLACS course?

The first 28 days you are in a VLACS course is the “grace period.” You may contact your instructor to drop the course with “no grade” during that period. If, at the end of the “grace period,” you have not completed the required lessons for the first four weeks, your instructor may remove you from the class.

How do I make a parent account on VLACS?

The Virtual Learning Academy is education designed to be online. We are a virtual school for elementary, middle, high school, and adult learners to earn a degree, earn some credits, explore an interest, or gain valuable career credentials.

Why is academic integrity important to VLACS?

Academic integrity is very important to VLACS; therefore, students agree to submit authentic work, not copied from another student or from another source without citing that source.

How long does it take to get a response from a course?

Course Policies. You will receive a response within 24-48 hours. You are strongly encouraged to do all your assessments in the order they are presented to you; completing them out of order will make your course more difficult and may give you a false impression of your overall progress in completing your course.

What happens if you withdraw after the grace period?

Withdrawing after the 28-day grace period will result in a withdrawal incomplete (WInc) on your transcript. You are expected to stay on pace or you may be dropped from the course if you are not submitting the minimum assignments each week according to Suggested Pacing in the student information system each week.

If a student needs help and can not reach their teacher immediately, our Academic Help Desk is staffed by five certified teachers that are available over the course of 100 hours during the week, ensuring that someone will be there for you no matter what your schedule.

What kind of courses can I take?

VLACS offers more than 200 courses including basic middle school and high school courses. There are many subjects available that may not be offered in your school.

Can I work at my own pace?

Students may opt to work at an accelerated, traditional or extended pace; however, regular work submission and communication is required in all VLACS courses in accordance with the student’s pace chart.

When do classes start?

Start times are flexible for all learning journeys except for Teams. During the registration process, students will be asked to select a proposed start time that best meets their educational goals.
