Merge Blackboard Courses. To merge two or more Blackboard courses follow these steps: Determine the Parent Course. This is the course where all your content must currently reside. Open the Parent Course in Blackboard. In the Control Panel (lower left), click on Course Tools and then Course Merge.
The Course Merge Tool copies the student enrollments from one or more "child" courses into a "parent" course. Course merge can be used to: Merge enrollments of two or more sections of the same Enroll & Pay course that have the same department and catalog number.
The child and parent Blackboard courses must be listed in the same semester in the Schedule of Classes. After merging, the child courses will be made unavailable. Instructors should not make the child courses available in the future.
In a merged course, students will see the name of the original course and the content from the parent course. The Course Merge Tool does not copy any content from the child courses to the parent course. If you want to copy content from any of the child courses to the parent course you should do this prior to using the Course Merge Tool.

Decide which Blackboard site you will use with all of the students. This site is referred to as the " parent ." The other sites to be combined are referred to as " child " sites. Note: Nothing ever gets copied from the child sites except the enrollments. The child sites will become entirely useless to you, and will never be opened by the students.
On your list of My Courses, the parent site is shown as usual. Each child site gets the special notation "unavailable - Child course of [parent site]." You should ignore the child sites completely, and you can hide them from your view by clicking the "gear" icon atop My Courses and changing the settings on the personalization page.

Needless to say, if you attempt to use the Blackboard Learn Course Merge to two courses that are linked to a Genius instance, bad things will happen. Genius will not display this course, as it was not created in Genius. All of the enrollments, progress, performance, and engagement information generated by the learners in that course will not be reported back to Genius for use in its Dashboards and Reports. And you will not be able to manage those enrollments, instructors, or all of the functionality that you’re used to having access to through Genius.
