To drop a course after the deadline 10-day or 20-day drop deadline, approval of a graduate advisor with signature authority and the Dean of Graduate Studies is required. A graduate advisor with signature authority must endorse the Permission to Drop Petition Form.

In courses listed in the UC Davis General Catalog as being letter graded, “passing quality” means “of D- quality or better.” This standard holds in such courses whether or not the student has elected to take the course on a Passed/Not Passed (P/NP) or Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory (S/U) basis.

Courses designated with a 10-day drop can be dropped without the permission of the college Dean’s office through the end of the 10th day of instruction. Similarly, courses designated with a 20-day drop can be dropped without the permission of the college Dean's Office through the end of the 20th day of instruction.
To register in courses after the 12th day of instruction without any prior existing enrollment for the current term, submit a General Appeal Petition to the Office of the University Registrar. For inquires, contact the Office of the University Registrar.

During the academic terms, waitlists begin during Pass One registration appointments and end after the last day to add classes, the 12th day of instruction. Summer terms and some professional schools have different waitlist periods.
The waitlist process runs through the 12th day of instruction. Note that not all courses have waitlists and some courses only have a waitlist during Pass Two. Waitlisted courses count towards the maximum units allowed during registration periods. The units of a waitlisted course do not count when determining eligibility for financial aid.
As an Open Campus student, you can take up to 8 quarter units of undergraduate work (course numbers 1-198), 4 quarter units of graduate work (course numbers 200 and above) or 5 units of combined graduate and undergraduate courses per quarter.
If you want to request to take courses that have a combined unit total exceeding the limits noted above, you must submit a Petition to Exceed Unit Maximum. This form must be returned by the deadline to the UC Davis Continuing and Professional Education Student Services office for approval.

The Math Placement Exam is offered every quarter over two separate testing sessions. Students may only take the exam once per session. There are multiple options for students who did not pass the Math Placement Exam to prepare for another attempt.

The ELWR serves to ensure that all first-year students have college-level proficiency in writing. Satisfaction of the ELWR is a prerequisite to the English Composition and Writing Experience Courses that are required for graduation.
Students are allowed to use scores of 3, 4, or 5 on Advanced Placement (AP) exams for college credit. These courses may be comparable to lower division courses and therefore can be used to satisfy major requirements, university writing requirements, and the 180 minimum unit requirement to obtain a Bachelor’s degree.
