In general, students working toward a two-year Associate in Arts or Associate in Science degree will find that most of their credits translate to meet general education requirements at UNCG. Some of UNCG’s four-year degrees, especially STEM-related degrees, may require that certain pre-requisite courses are completed at UNCG.
Undergraduates may not take more than 18 credits per semester except with the approval of their assigned academic advisor.

The New Student Fee is a standalone fee which covers all SOAR student program costs, accommodations, and materials. The New Student Fee also covers NAV1GATE new student convocation, Rawkin’ Welcome Weeks, and many other first-year programs. Students do not pay their New Student Fee at SOAR.

The Graduate School requires a minimum 3.0 undergraduate GPA for full admission into UNCG graduate programs. This requirement can sometimes be waived when exceptional achievement is demonstrated in other areas.
Therefore, most doctoral students do not work full time. However, we have had doctoral students who have attended the program part time. We encourage any students who wish to work full time to discuss your plans with your faculty advisor or the director of graduate study once you are admitted to the program.
Fellowships and Scholarships: In addition to Departmental assistantships (which have a service requirement), UNCG has non-service fellow ships and scholarships that are awarded by the Graduate School to exceptionally qualified students who meet the particular requirements of the award.
If you receive financial aid from the Financial Aid Office at UNCG, you will need to maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress so that you also remain eligible for receiving aid in future semesters.
