To make the most gold possible with our skinning guide in WoW, you need to “hyperspawn” the mobs at your spots, so you get more and more leather faster. We suggest going for a Druid because it is the go-to class for any serious gold farmer in WoW.
WoW players with skinning in their hands provide the key components for crafting everything with Leatherworking. And those crafted items from Leatherworking are used by all players, from mythic raiders to casual subscribers. So, the Skinning materials are always needed, which makes it a sure investment of time.
Medium Leather is skinned from mobs levels 15 – 30. While it can be found in any zone in that level range, these are especially filled with beasts: Once you’ve skinned enough Heavy Leather to reach 150, you should go learn Expert Skinning. Continue collecting Heavy Leather until you reach about 175 or 180.
WoW Shadowlands introduced many incredible and highly profitable locations for Skinning. The two primary zones for farming are Ardenweald and Bastion. That’s because these zones have the biggest amount of beasts near each other, so you can slay and loot them without relocating all day long.
An excellent place to solo-farm Coarse Leather, Tempest Hide, Blood-Stained Bones and Calcified Bones, is in Nazmir at /way Nazmir 47.12 55.22. This is a pool of Vicious War Crawgs that respawn at a very fast rate.
Artisan Leatherworking. To become an Artisan Leatherworker you need to reach level 35 and level up Leatherworking to 200, then find an Artisan Leatherworking trainer. Alliance players can learn it from Drakk Stonehand. He is in the main Wildhammer Keep in Aerie Peak of the Hinterlands, North of South Shore.
There are all kinds of Snapdragons around the marked area, all of them drop Dredged Leather (except the baby snapdragons).

There is indeed a Horde Artisan Skinning trainer in Camp Taurajo. There's also one in Thunder Bluff, which is probably a place you're more likely to actually find yourself at during your travels. Training costs 5g.

Leatherworkers can create Dredged Leather Bladder and blacksmiths can combine these with Monel-Hardened Hoofplates to create Inflatable Mount Shoes, which is a fairly lucrative item.
Update: you can farm Tempest Hide in Drustvar, on the coast of Barrowknoll Cemeter. There are two camps of grain invaded by "invasive quillrats" that spawns really fast.
200-225 – The Hinterlands To save time, make sure you visit your trainer in a major city to learn artisan skinning. This will let you reach the max level of 300! Make your way to The Hinterlands and start from the west side of the zone as the beasts become higher level the further east you travel.
It takes around 15-20 minutes to reach Skinning 300 for a level 50 character. But, you can speed up the process even further if you buy a Darkmoon Firewater from the Auction House.
To learn Skinning past 300 skill level you must travel to Outland and talk with a master Skinner. Alliance and Horde players can find their respective trainers at: [A] Jelena Nightsky at Honor Hold in Hellfire Peninsula, around coordinates (54,63).
Like most professions, Blizzard made trainers in any capital city able to teach you Apprentice through Artisan Skinning. All you need to do is ask a guard and follow their directions.
In Vanilla, leveling Skinning is a fairly time intensive process. Like other gathering professions, the materials will appear in level appropriate areas, but because the leather comes from mobs, you’ll need to go to zones with skinnable creatures in specific level ranges to increase your skill.
Once you’ve reached 450, the value of Skinning lies in your ability to farm Heavy Borean Leather and Arctic Fur. You can use these two materials to buy high-level Leatherworking patterns from Braeg Stoutbeard in Dalaran.
First step is to make sure you have your Leather Skinning skill in rank 3. You can go into your skinning skill under you professions tab to see what rank you have. Here you can see what you need to do to get the next rank as well. But remember to start with going to you’r skinning trainer and learn rank 1.

Don't forget to enchant your gloves with Enchant Gloves - Shadowlands Gathering! This enchant brings skinning time down from 1.5 seconds to 0.5 seconds. (works with herbalism and mining too)
Skinning is the best combined with Leatherworking, so check out my Leatherworking Leveling Guide if you want to level Leatherworking too. Leveling your Skinning will be easy, but you will have to run around and skin hundreds of mobs.
To acquire Shadowlands Skinning, head over to the Hall of Shapes in Oribos. You’ll find the Skinning Trainer right next to the Leatherworking one, near the Hall of Shapes’ exit. It only takes a few gold to learn it, and it gives you access to Skinning for the rest of the expansion.
But the reason why this is one of the best spots for skinning in Shadowlands is that there are also tons of quests, world quests, and covenant objectives that other people are doing all the time. They’re constantly killing the beasts, without even having Skinning as a profession.

But the road between Hero’s Rest and The Eternal Forge in Bastion is perhaps one of the most profitable farms you can do. In this drawn area, you can take over 100 mobs in 5-7 pulls, depending on how tanky you are.
The Caves in Bastion. In the center of Bastion, in the cliffs around Hero’s Rest , there are a couple of caves that make excellent farming spots. These caves are built with entirely new models in WoW and are usually on two floors. The only mobs that you’ll encounter there are Agitated Etherwyrms.
In Shadowlands, there are tons of new hot spots that you need to take advantage of if you want to farm extra gold in WoW! While the other professions haven’t been so “blessed,” Skinning has been thriving ever since the expansion came out.
Additionally, Leatherworking plays a part in the Legendary system in Shadowlands.

Leather is gathered by skinning beasts that have been slain and looted. Leathers can be used directly by the Leatherworking profession without prior processing or treatment. The type of leather is usually directly related to the level of animal being skinned.
Skinners can easily remove a slain beast's hide by ensuring that they have a skinning knife in their inventory, then right-clicking on an animal's corpse. Though not all beasts can be skinned, the vast majority can - and you don't need to have killed an animal to skin it yourself.
Any skinnable corpse will have a color code on the "Skinnable" property when you move your pointer over it: Red: Not skinnable. Orange: Difficult to skin; certain chance of increasing Skinning skill level. Yellow: Moderately difficult to skin; moderate chance of increasing Skinning skill level.
After the "Starting Levels", mobs require 5 Skinning ability per level, so a level 25 mob requires 125 skill points in Skinning for you to be able to skin its corpse.
Cloth is used by tailors in patterns for cloth armor, and in First Aid for Bandages. Cloth drops off humanoids in the world, with the Cloth that drops determined by enemy level. Cloth can also be used by blacksmiths and engineers.
Unlike the mining or herb gathering, skinning allows very frequent practice when outdoor hunting resulting in a great deal of leather and very rapid training. You will typically be able to skin creature s much higher level than you can kill .
