By their nature co-ops are not different electrically than any other type of strata council but the way you have to approach them is very different. Generally, you have to look at the whole building and take into account all the shareholders.
Co-op housing is a legal entity that owns a piece of real estate property, usually a residential building.
There are quite a few benefits to co-operative housing. In many cases, co-ops offer a less expensive housing option. For example, they are usually cheaper per square foot than condos in the same area, with the added benefit of lower purchasing costs.
Likewise, while getting to know your neighbours can be beneficial, it can be hard to enter into a financial arrangement with people you hardly know which is what happens in co-ops. This can lead to fighting and bitter feelings with your neighbours.
PTX Electric works with a lot of the large co-op companies in the Lower Mainland because we are the go-to electrical co-op specialists. We show co-ops how they can fix their wiring so their shareholders and tenants are happier which will not only increase the value of the co-op but will save them money in the electrical bill in the long run.
An occult pneumothorax refers to one missed on initial imaging, usually a supine /semierect chest radiograph 24. For those pneumothoraces occurring in neonates see the article on neonatal pneumothorax. On this page:
Presentation is variable and may range from no symptoms to severe dyspnoea with tachycardia and hypotension. In patients who have a tension pneumothorax, presentation may be with distended neck veins and tracheal deviation, cardiac arrest and in the most severe cases, death.
When imaged supine detection can be difficult: see pneumothorax in a supine patient, and pneumothorax is one cause of a transradiant hemithorax.
Primary spontaneous. A primary spontaneous pneumothorax is one which occurs in a patient with no known underlying lung disease. Tall and thin people are more likely to develop a primary spontaneous pneumothorax. There may be a familial component, and there are well-known associations 10: Marfan syndrome.
In patients with recurrent pneumothoraces or who are at very high risk of having recurrent events and have a poor respiratory reserve, pleurodesis can be performed. This can either be medical (e.g. talc poudrage) or surgical (e.g. VATS pleurectomy, pleural abrasion, sclerosing agent) 4.
Oxygen therapy – traditional treatment for small pneumothorax in asymptomatic or minimally symptomatic patients was oxygen via a face mask or non-rebreather. Much of the more recent literature has discredited this as an effective treatment.
There are multiple classifications of pneumothoraces – primary, secondary, iatrogenic, traumatic, tension etc. This article is a limited overview of the most common type (s) of pneumothorax, and methods of treatment.
Indeed, the ‘classic’ scenario for a primary spontaneous pneumothorax is a young adult male (18 – 20’s), tall and thin in appearance and no other known medical history who presents with complaints of shortness of breath or dyspnea.
