Enable My Media and the Media Gallery in your WebCampus Course

The My Media area in WebCampus allows you to upload video files and share them with your student via the Media Gallery or embed them elsewhere in your course (e.g. quizzes, discussions, modules, etc.). In order to use My Media and the Media Gallery you must first enable them in your course settings.

Uploading existing video files to My Media

You can easily upload most common video (and audio) files to My Media in WebCampus. This content can then be deployed in your WebCampus course (s). Since My Media works via a streaming server, any uploaded content must be re-encoded before it will be available.

Course details

Clicking on Settings at the bottom of the course navigation menu will take you to the course settings section of the class. The first tab in settings is Course Details. At the top of this page you will see some basic course information, including the course name, course code, time zone, SIS ID, Department, and term.

When your next semester’s course shell becomes available, you may pull content from a previous course into that shell. You can either copy an entire course, or just select specific content that you’d like to copy into the new course. Viewing the course roster

Students will automatically be added to your WebCampus course after enrolling via MyNevada. These updates are made four times a day, generally at 8:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., 4:00 p.m., 6:00 p.m., and 10:00 p.m, although these times may be adjusted during periods of heavy enrollments or changes.

Adding a TA

WebCampus allows instructors to add their own TAs, Co-instructors, Observers and Guests into their courses. The person whom you wish to add to one of these roles must have a NetID. Those added as co-instructors or TAs in the course will have access to student grade information.

The Course Home Page is the first view your students will see when they enter your course. For the Course Home Page, you can customize a page from your course Pages and have it display as the Course Home Page.

Modules

By using modules, you control the flow by which your students interact with your course content. Once you create modules, you can add content items, set prerequisites, and add requirements.

Syllabus

The Syllabus tool in WebCampus allows you to post your course description, a brief introduction, class guidelines, weekly reminders, or just upload a copy of your syllabus. The Syllabus page also displays a calendar and automatically generates a chronological list of links to all the events and assignments that you've created in WebCampus.

Pages

Pages provide instructors the opportunity to author course content directly in their classes in WebCampus. The advantage of using pages, rather than uploading computer files, is that pages can be interactive, can include rich media like video and audio, and can link to other pages, assignments, discussions, and other course activities in WebCampus.

Files

In your class in WebCampus, you may want to provide lecture notes, PDFs of articles, worksheets, or any other type of externally-created file. In order to do so, you can upload files into your course, and deploy them in different areas.

Course Reserves

Course materials may be placed on reserve by submitting an online request via our reserves system. This is most easily accessed through the "Course Reserves" link in WebCampus courses.

Publisher content integration

Many academic publishers have partnered with Canvas to integrate their resources and services. Each vendor deploys content differently, but the results are similar. In most cases, users will have access to digital materials and curriculum tools along with grade center integration and automatic sign-on.
