Direct: Dee thinks that she is better than everyone else. Indirect: Whenever anyone tries to speak to Dee, she says, "You don't know me," rolls her eyes, and walks away. Rewrite each of the direct characterization examples as an indirect characterization.
Direct Characterization –author tells the character's actual physical and mental traits, characteristics, abilities. Think “telling.” Indirect Characterization –author shows how character speaks, thinks, acts, or how other characters react to him.
