What types of online training does IAPMO offer?

We offer two primary types of online training opportunities: 1. Continuing Education (CEU) Courses 2. Certification Exam Preparation Courses Additional Resource: IAPMO also publishes study guides that can be purchased through the IAPMO online bookstore, by clicking here.

What is a certificate of completion from IAPMO?

A certificate of completion is issued to the licensee as evidence of completing the required training and IAPMO submits licensee attendance information to the Board office in compliance with 248 CMR 11.00

When will my course materials be available for self-paced courses?

In self-paced courses, all course materials are available as soon as the course opens. If you enroll in a self-paced course long before its end date, the course will feature suggested deadlines on assignments to help you plan and stay on-track. This suggested schedule is personalized based on the date you first enrolled.

Important or Urgent?

Self-paced courses fall into a non-urgent category. The lack of deadlines can be a double-edged sword. On one side, freedom from the stress of deadlines. On the other side, tasks with deadlines tend to be dealt with first simply because they are more urgent and need to be done before time runs out for them.

Motivation

The key to success is motivation. How much do you really want to do this course? Will it be mildly interesting, or is there a more compelling reason to do it? Will your future career or your family’s lifestyle be enhanced by doing it? Are you finally managing to learn about a subject that always interested you?

Deciding whether or not to do the course

Self-paced courses have a habit of hanging over your head and making a nuisance of themselves by interfering with your conscience. Are you enrolled in a self-paced course that’s just sitting there? Think about whether or not you really want to do it. If so, hop to it! If not, un-enrol and move on without regret.

Ok, so you’ve decided to get on with it. You know you want to complete this self-paced course, but it’s still a millstone around your neck.

What is self paced class?

Self-paced courses are online academic classes that can be completed at a students' own pace within a predetermined timeframe. These courses don't ask students to meet online at specific times, or to submit assignments ahead of set deadlines.

How to start a course?

Get ready to begin your course by reviewing the syllabus thoroughly, and by studying up on best practices for online and self-paced learning. It may also be helpful to skim any required texts ahead of the course's start date. This will allow you to familiarize yourself with course expectations and start your class feeling prepared—both of which will help you stay ahead of your workload as the course progresses.

How to manage your workload?

For some, this means using the self-paced course’s built-in organizational tools, such as course checklists and pacing charts. For others, this could involve saving all of your coursework in one place on your computer, or using sticky notes to remind yourself to stay on pace or complete a particular assignment. Establishing a pattern of organization will help you better manage busy weeks or when unexpected life events alter your schedule.

How long can you work at your own pace?

Work at your own pace until the end date. You can work at your own pace up until the final, fixed end date of the course. All edX courses have end dates, but self-paced courses remain open for a long time to allow flexibility.
