Each of the Army's branch schoolhouses were charged with conducting the pilot under the Army Learning Concepts 2015, a new technology-based learning model. One Combined Logistics CCC, or CLC3, class at the Army Logistics University was assigned the pilot's course of study. It concludes May 31.

Capt. Jason Jones, a student whose follow-up assignment is with the 2nd Armored Calvary Regiment in Germany , said he is encouraged about the course material but much has to be done to find the right balance. "The pilot program, if I could sum it up, it's pretty intense," he said.
Army: In-residence ILE for most is a 3.5 month course, if you can get selected, not a 10+ month course. Most do not go to the 12 month course, or the next-level course CGSC which is 12 months. Lately, all of the in-residence (3.5 month) ILE slots in the Med Corps have been going to CPTs and MAJs. I was told ILE is an O-5 to O-6 requirement, but the ILE board results (yes it is a board) suggest that O-5s are gonna have to do the distance learning option. It seems like ILE is creeping in as an O-4 to O-5 requirement. It looks like the MAJs who will stay in the Army and compete for O-5 will have done it in-residence as O-4s. Folks in long residencies or fellowships will be at a disadvantage with a shorter time to complete both CCC and ILE before primary zone for O-5 comes along. Captain's Career Course (CCC) is 9 weeks, but is likely going to become a 22 week course unless the MC leadership can point out the myriad of reasons this is a bad idea to TRADDOC (our new overlords). This would mean that between end of residency and making O-5, you would go to 22 weeks of CCC and 3.5 months of ILE. Many will completely opt out of PME, and my prediction is this becomes another roadblock to retention. Imagining missing 9+ months of clinical time for PME, then throw in some deployments and you have been out of medicine for 1.5 to 2 years when you are still in your early, formative years as a clinician.

RC has different formats for the course, including entirely distance learning, but it's meant to be death (past participants have told me it's 10-20 hours a week for a year). There is a quasi-residential one for reservists in which you do two weeks onsite followed by eight months of one weekend q month capped by another two weeks onsite. This is not in lieu of drill (at least not where I am), so it's a year in which you're one month away from your civilian practice and eight months in which you are Army half the weekends. Oi...
Your time is more valuable than this. Don't go. If they won't promote you without it, accept that sign as the message that it is, and get out.
My experience is that ILE still seems to be the exception rather than the rule for promotion to 05.
The condensed 2-3 week CCC mentioned upthread might be useful or not, I don't know, but it's probably not actively harmful. The idea doesn't fill me with disgusted rage the way a 6 month course does.
It is very likely that it does not need any further discussion and thus bumping it serves no purpose.

CDET's regional offices work with each student to determine a schedule that best fits their educational goals and the constraints of their personal time. At the end of a program's enrollment period, the regional office for each region creates a set of seminar schedules to accomodate the students as much as possible while meeting the requirements of the seminar. This ensures that each seminar has an appropriate class size and a variety of MOSs to encourage discussion and interaction.
The purpose of the MAGTF Operations Practical Exercise is to provide career level officers an opportunity to reinforce the skills and educational objectives learned during prior instruction and to exercise military judgment, as well as decision-making, through a series of practical exercises. Each week the faculty assigns student staff billets as part of a tactical exercise team ( TET) that, given a tactical scenario, uses the Marine Corps planning process ( MCPP) in a collaborative planning effort to analyze a tactical mission; develop, wargame, and compare courses of action ( COA ); and then prepare and brief selected portions of an operation order ( OPORD) for selected elements of the MAGTF.
The blended seminar program provides students with an opportunity to receive their professional military education (PME) through a combination of resident and non-resident (online) education at or near their home station. These BSPs enable students to gain a greater depth of educational experience, while minimizing family turbulence by allowing them to remain on station and with their commands.
Apply for a funded seat in a blended seminar program by submitting an enrollment form to the appropriate IMSO. Enrollment forms are screened to ensure the student meets the enrollment eligibility criteria set forth by MCO 1553.4B, Professional Military Education (PME), and by PME policies of the Marine Corps University and CDET.
The initial resident period lasts for 4 weeks. The non-resident, online period lasts for 12 weeks. Students then return for their final resident period of 6 weeks and participate in an official graduation ceremony. Not all online courses are available for ATA compensation. Only courses listed on the EBDL Course List may be used. All other distance learning courses, not listed, are worth promotion points and retirement points but not pay.
