If the course is added successfully, you should see a yellow banner appear, which indicates the course has been added successfully. To drop a course go back to the “Add/Drop Courses”.
Undergraduates are advised each semester, prior to registration, by their academic advisor, department, or college. Graduate and Law students are not required to be advised but may wish to do so if they have questions or concerns about their progress.

A Semester Withdrawal (also known as an SW) is when an enrolled student withdraws from all of their classes between Census (the 12th day of the semester) and the final day of classes for a semester. Changing to Audit requires the instructor permission, therefore this action cannot be done through VandalWeb. Add the class for regular credit, then obtain the instructor's signature on the Audit section of the Change of Registration form and submit to the Registrar's Office.
Changing a letter-graded class to pass/fail option requires advisor or major professor approval. Add the class normally and then obtain the advisor's signature on the Pass/Fail Option form and submit to the Registrar's Office.
Registration access is given to new students as described in section A - Matriculation. It is also given to students who were previously enrolled within two years of the term in which they wish to register.
Instructors do not admit anyone to class whose name does not appear on the class roster. U of I instructors are given the authority to grant or deny access to classes by visitors.
Auditing a course consists of attendance without participation or credit. Audited courses will be recorded on a student's permanent record. The permission of the instructor is required before a student may audit a course. Seating preference in a course will be given to students who are completing the course for credit.
A student enrolled in the regular program is permitted to carry independent study courses for college credit only with the prior written approval of his or her academic advisor. Credit for Independent Study in Idaho courses will not be accepted without such approval.
Students who have not completed the prerequisites to a course for which they are otherwise eligible may register for the course with the instructor's approval.
All academic programs give priority in the first two years to meeting the general requirements for the appropriate degree and acquiring the foundation for advanced study; therefore, freshman students may not take upper-division courses.
Undergraduate and non-degree students may register in graduate courses under the conditions outlined in the College of Graduate Studies section with the prior written approval of the instructor of the course, the student's advisor, and the Dean of the College of Graduate Studies.
You can find the course code by searching the name in the Academic Catalog. The “Class Type” and “Subject” should be set to All, and the “Course Title” should be left blank. You can change the class type to be either online or day. You can also choose search by general subject or course title.
To drop a course go back to the “Add/Drop Courses”. Scroll down to Your Schedule (Registered). Select the left column “Drop” box, scroll down, and click “Drop Selected Courses”. DO NOT PRESS “Drop All Courses”, as this will drop all your courses (unless you would intentionally like to drop all of your courses).
Registration cannot resend your authorization or put you back at the top of the waitlist. You are able to waitlist for up to 12 credits. You cannot waitlist for classes that you’re already registered for.
