Prior Learning is defined as documented college-level learning acquired through previous study or through non-classroom experiences such as: 1 Travel 2 Volunteer work 3 Independent acquisition of knowledge 4 Participation in formal courses sponsored by associations, business, government, industry, the military, and unions 5 Participation in certification programs and professional development courses
Adults who are first-time college students must submit the following information to be considered for admission: An application for admission, which includes a brief personal statement and a non-refundable $50 application fee. Certification of high school graduation or the equivalent as recognized by state departments of education.
Some adult students are seeking to advance in their current career, while others may be looking for a new career. Students of all ages find that Berkeley College is a perfect fit for their educational and career goals.
Credit for prior learning. Berkeley realizes that learning does not only take place in the traditional classroom. Adult learners often bring many years of learning through diverse experiences in life and in the workplace. Some of these experiences may be counted towards college-level work through prior learning credits.
BAS is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). Required courses are offered in the fields of science, mathematics, social science, and language arts. Qualified students may choose to take a Computer class from BAS’s Career Technical Education (CTE) Courses at no charge.
High School classes are free and HSE. The CAHSEE (California High School Exit Exam) is no longer required for a high school diploma. If you did not pass both parts of the CAHSEE, today you may be closer than you think to earning a high school diploma. Contact us!
