A: After the third week of the quarter you may Petition to Withdraw from a Course. You will receive a W grade if submitted before the 6th-week deadline, and a Not Pass (NP) grade if submitted between the sixth and ninth weeks of instruction. Dates and deadlines are listed in the Academic and Administrative Calendar.
To officially withdraw you must digitally submit a Withdrawal Form (Access the digital form "Semester Withdrawal form" via OnBase here). (Please note: Students who withdraw after the second week of the semester are also required to meet with a Student Service counselor.)
You can drop your classes in eServices or by visiting Sacramento City College's Admissions & Records Office. Review the academic calendar for the semester to see important drop deadlines.
Serious and Compelling Reasons An extended absence due to a death in the immediate family. This applies to absences exceeding a week due to family affairs that must be attended to by the student. A necessary change in employment status which interferes with the student's ability to attend class.
Failing & Then Re-Taking a Class Croskey notes that dropping a class is better than withdrawing, but withdrawing is better than failing. “A failing grade will lower the student's GPA, which may prevent a student from participating in a particular major that has a GPA requirement,” Croskey says.
Contact the registrar's office to withdraw. If online withdrawal isn't an option, you will have to speak to someone. Go in person to the registrar's office to get a class withdrawal sheet. Some institutions also accept withdrawals through email.
