When the reference is a book or journal article, use the year of publication only. However, for all other sources, if a more specific date is provided, add the more specific date to the reference.
Explanation. For sources where the publication date is unknown or cannot be determined, use the abbreviation "n.d." which stands for no date. Use small letters and place a period after each letter. There should be no space between the letters.
Lectures in a face-to-face course, live workshop, or unrecorded webinar are not recoverable. In other words, the reader cannot locate and access the source or hear the lecture. In these cases, treat the lecture as personal communication.

According the 7th edition of the Publication Manual, the way you cite course content depends on the audience of your paper. If the audience can access the sources in Brightspace or other online learning system, you will cite according to the type of resource (book, journal, PowerPoint slides, etc.).

Course materials should generally not be used as a source for assignments. Try and find another source which makes a similar point to your course materials instead of using it as a source.

How you cite a seminar on your reference page depends on whether you can find seminar information online. If there are notes, slides, videos or other materials from the seminar online, you can cite these items. Use the following format for online seminar items:
If you can't find materials from the seminar online to cite, cite the seminar as a meeting instead. To do so, you'll need the location of the seminar as well as the name of the group or organization hosting.
APA style also requires you to include in-text citations in your paper. Whenever you reference or quote a source in your paper, include a parenthetical immediately afterward that includes the author's name and the year of the seminar--month and day is not required.
