Welcome to UNLV Summer Term

Summer Term is a self-supporting program which empowers students to get ahead and graduate sooner. By offering additional opportunities to earn college credit students reap the benefits of attaining up to an additional eighteen credits for undergraduate students, and twelve credits for graduate students, ultimately fast-tracking their degree.

Undergraduate Students: 18 Credits Maximum#N#Session I: 4 Credits#N#Session II: 7 Credits#N#Session III: 7 Credits

Credit Overload

Credit loads above the limits listed will require an overload petition form. Failure to file an overload petition will result in being administratively dropped from the last class in which you enrolled.

UNLV Undergraduate Students - Overload Petition

You must obtain authorization from your academic advisor and other required authorities (specific to each college). Complete the Credit Overload Petition Form and indicate the specific number of credits in which you wish to be enrolled.

UNLV Graduate Students - Overload Petition

Graduate students may take no more than 12 credits for the entire Summer Term. Graduate students must complete the Graduate College Overload Authorization Form on the Grad Rebel Gateway Portal and obtain approval from the Graduate College.

Non-Degree Seeking Students - Overload Petition

Complete the Credit Overload Petition Form and indicate the specific courses and number of credits in which you wish to be enrolled. After completion, the petition must be reviewed and approved by the Director of Summer Term. Submit approved form to the Office of the Registrar (SSC-C), where the courses will be manually enrolled.

Loans

Many students utilize the total value of their financial aid eligibility during the fall and spring semesters, which means a student may not have any remaining financial aid eligibility for the summer. For example:

Millennium Scholarship

If you're eligible for the Governor Guinn Millennium Scholarship Program during the summer term, the Nevada Treasurer's Office will not credit your summer Millennium Scholarship to your MyUNLV account until the end of October 2021, in accordance with program scholarship rules.

Summer PELL Grants

To be eligible for the additional summer Pell Grant award, you must meet the program requirements and enroll in at least 6 credits. The Pell Grant award is based on your Expected Family Contribution (EFC) from the FAFSA.
