Cecil College believes that learning is a lifelong process and is acquired in many different ways. In addition to the traditional classroom setting, mastery of college-level knowledge and skills may occur as a result of other learning experiences.
Students must make an appointment with an advisor to complete the graduation application, graduation audit sheet, and file the application with the Registrar’s Office. There are three graduation evaluation periods: December, May, and August. Filing deadline dates and degree conferral dates are:
A letter grade is assigned for each course in which the student is enrolled at the end of the term. A grade submitted by the faculty member can be viewed on MyCecil. The term grade report and unofficial transcript at MyCecil are available and printable. A quality point value per credit hour in the course is assigned to each letter grade.
Unless an appeal has been initiated, all grades become final 60 days after being issued to the student. Students may appeal a grade before 60 days have elapsed by following the procedures outlined below.
Students qualifying for the President’s List must earn a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.75 or better for that semester and be carrying a full credit load of at least 12 semester hours. Part- time students are eligible for the President’s List after accumulating 15 credit hours or more with a semester GPA of 3.75 or better for that semester.
Students are expected to attend all classes except for reasons of illness or emergency. Each instructor will determine and announce the attendance policy and requirements for each course. Make-up tests may be administered at the request of the student and at the convenience and discretion of the instructor.
Through a unique collaboration across several community colleges in Maryland, Cecil College students have access to several degree programs that are not currently offered at Cecil College. The Maryland Education Alliance (MEA) creates pathways for students to complete these programs of study.

First-year composition is broad preparation for writing and reading throughout the college curriculum, and the first semester of college is often a challenging period of adjustment for students. One grade in any course should never determine a student’s destiny. Talk with your instructor or with the English department chair about your interests. We would be happy to help you through your decision-making process.
Students enrolled in the STEM program of Cecil County Public Schools (CCPS) may enroll in designated courses at Cecil College during their junior and/or senior year of high school. Eligible students receive a waiver for two-thirds of the in-county tuition rate in effect for the semester.

Have you always dreamed of becoming a teacher? Well, Cecil College can assist you with getting started on that dream! The Teacher Education program offers the Associate of Arts in Teaching (A.A.T.) degree that provides the first two years of study for students who plan to transfer to a four-year university to pursue a bachelor’s degree in early childhood, elementary, or secondary education. This program enables students to fulfill their general education requirements, participate in field experience, and complete a core of professional education coursework appropriate for the first two years of teacher preparation. With careful academic advising, the Teacher Education program provides a path for students seeking a seamless transfer to four-year public, independent, and most private institutions that offer teacher education.
Early Childhood Education (Associate of Arts in Teaching) This degree provides the first two years of college for students preparing to become early childhood education teachers. It is designed for students desiring to transfer to a four-year college or university to earn a bachelor’s degree in early childhood teacher education.

Students who successfully complete a course or program requirements for nursing, teacher education, physical therapist assistant, medical administrative professional, and paramedic will be eligible to meet the national requirements; however, Cecil College cannot confirm whether a course or program meets requirements for professional licensure in each individual state. Prospective students should contact their state for information on the applicable licensing boards to determine whether the program meets requirements for licensure in the state where students are located.
This degree has been articulated with all of the transfer programs in Secondary Education in the state of Maryland. To earn the AA degree, students must graduate with a 2.75 GPA and pass the Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators (CORE) 1 test.
Through participation in NC-SARA and compliance with statutory regulations related to training in individual states, Cecil College is approved to offer limited, supervised clinical field experiences in 3 U.S. states to eligible students. The states include Maryland, Delaware, and Pennsylvania. These are the locations currently approved for student supervised clinical and field training. Individual state regulations are subject to change without prior notice and the College does not guarantee locations for clinical and field training experiences.
