Why is my course listed as “unavailable” in Blackboard? If the link to your course name is not active and it says "unavailable" or "not currently available" next to the name, it means your instructor has not yet made the course available to students. Please contact your instructor to find out if/when it will be made available.
Please Note: If the name of your course is followed by the words NOT AVAILABLE, that course exists on Blackboard but is currently hidden from the students. If you have the Instructor or TA role in the course, you will continue to have access.
From the Blackboard dashboard, navigate to the Tools module on the left side of the screen and click the Qwickly Faculty & TAs link. Click Course Availability. Click OFF for each course you want to “hide” from students.
About course availability A course must be made available before students enrolled in the course can view or access the course and its content. However, you may want to make a course unavailable during the building process or after a scheduled course has finished. If your course is unavailable, access is determined by course role.
If a course has an end date, and the end date passes, then students can't access the course any longer. So, if you complete a course and open it again after the end date, students can't access it. If you return to the Courses page and don't see all the options in a course's menu after this change, refresh the Courses page.
Log into Blackboard Learn and enter the course. In the Course Management menu under Customization, click Properties. Under Set Availability, check the radio button next to "Yes" for Make Course Available. Click the Submit button.
The student is no longer available in the course, and the course will not appear in his or her Course List module until an Instructor switches availability back to Yes. Manage Users.
Your instructor has NOT made the course available to students yet. Some instructors make courses available before classes start while others wait until the first day. Contact your instructor to see if the course will use Blackboard and if the course has been made available to students.
Locate the user whose availability you wish to change, hover over the username and click on the chevron that appears. Click on Change User's Availability in Course to change the user's availability.
The note “private” in your course title means that the course has not yet been made available to your students. To make your course available, follow the How to Make Your Course Available to Students instructions.
Why am I not seeing a course I just registered for in CUNYfirst, in Blackboard? It takes 24 hours from the time you registrar or change your registration in CUNYfirst for it to update in Blackboard.

Availability, in the context of a computer system, refers to the ability of a user to access information or resources in a specified location and in the correct format.
If your course is unavailable, access is determined by course role. Blackboard administrators, instructors, course builders, teaching assistants, and graders can see and access unavailable courses from the My Courses tab and the course list, but they're marked as unavailable. Students can't access unavailable courses regardless of the course duration. Unavailable courses don't appear in the course catalog.
