To view SpeedGrader settings, click the Settings icon [3]. SpeedGrader settings include: Options [4], which allows you to select student list sorting options and enable anonymous grading. Keyboard Shortcuts [5], which opens a list of keyboard shortcuts for SpeedGrader. You can also press the Shift+Question Mark keys simultaneously.
You can access SpeedGrader in Canvas through: Assignments, Quizzes, Graded Discussions, and the Gradebook. To access through Assignments, click on the name of the assignment you want to grade. Instructors can see if this is an issue in their courses by checking the top of each column in their grade books for the orange eye icon with a line through it. If that icon is present, students can't see that column of grades until the instructor releases them.Jul 16, 2019

When a quiz is muted it is “silenced” to student viewing. Students cannot view their quiz grades, quiz content or correct answers until their instructor unmutes the quiz. This allows feedback to be shared with the whole class and students can't copy and paste answers or take screen shots.

From the Modules page, you can publish anything simply by clicking on the circle with the line through it; it will turn into a green check. You can learn about publishing items (link describes assignments, but other item types are the same) and modules in the Canvas resource guide.
In the Course Navigation menu, click the Modules link. button at the top right to add a new module. In the pop-up window, give your new module a name (such as "Module 1" or "Week 1" or "Readings"). You may select the "Lock until" box to enter a date after which this module will become visible to students.
Students will not be graded in Speedgrader when using the Course Kit grading experience (i.e. when an assignment is setup using submission type "external tool" that points to the Course Kit LTI tool). Once an assignment is graded in Course Kit, the grades should be posted back to Canvas gradebook.

Does your comment for this student have an asterisk, does the comment have a pink background, is there a Submit button? The Submit button may or may not be there but if the comment has a colored background, then it is likely a saved draft of the comment.
Note that it may take a few minutes before this comment becomes visible to the student.
You have now learned one reason why your comments in SpeedGrader might not be visible to your students.
SpeedGrader displays assignment submissions according to the current Gradebook settings for inactive enrollments and concluded enrollments. If an assignment includes a submission from an inactive or concluded student, a notice appears at the top of the SpeedGrader window.
If you are grading a moderated assignment and the maximum number of graders has been reached, SpeedGrader will be displayed in a read-only mode to hide all student names and submission details.
In SpeedGrader, all values for an assignment are loaded and saved in the browser, including student submission data, any grades (including original grades for resubmitted assignments), rubrics, and comments . This behavior reduces load time while using SpeedGrader, allowing instructors to grade all submissions quickly without continually refreshing the browser. Advancing from one submission to the next does not dynamically load any updated content.
If an assignment was set to be anonymous, the student list displays all student names as anonymous. The student list order does not match the order in the Gradebook and is randomized for each assignment.
If your course includes multiple graders, graders added to a course can be limited to only interact with users in a section and only grade submissions in the section where they were enrolled. This enrollment option prevents assignment grading overlap so multiple instructor roles cannot grade the same assignment.
Assignments in a closed grading period cannot be edited.
Because of how SpeedGrader data is loaded and stored in the browser, multiple users should not grade assignments at the same time since each grader cannot view the most recent information for a submission.
The available annotation tools explained (numbers are associated with the numbers in the image): 1 To download a PDF of the annotated submission, click the download button. 2 If there are multiple pages to the submission, you can go directly to the page you need. 3 Or, you can advance through the arrows. Scrolling through the document is also an option. 4 To rotate the page, use the rotate button. 5 To zoom in or out, use the + and – symbols. 6 To view the submission in full screen, click the double arrow full screen button. 7 To annotate the submission, the remaining tools can be used. Simply click on the tool you would like to use, then click in the assignment where you would like to annotate. You can also choose through various colors when using the annotation tools. If a course is not accessible to you in your course list, it may not be published. Access to concluded courses may be restricted by your institution.
