They most likely are looking at everthing but water. I would be shocked if they wanted to take a personal bottle of water. Pop or alcohol is more what they are after. As far as food goes, it's not uncommon for people to try and bring food (from burgers to pizza). I've seen many have pizza delivered to specific holes at a certain time.

The Coachella Valley summers (May through September) are extremely hot and I always bring at least 2 bottles of water. I've never been hassled and would never play a course again if they didn't let me pack in water when it is over 110F. Some courses have water stations, but some don't.

I've never been hassled for bringing my own bottle of water. I usually use a squeeze bottle and prefer courses that let me refill it regularly... walking I drink 3-4 bottles a round.#N#At my club, they are happy to fill your water bottle at the bar/half-way house and there are coolers every third hole.

I am going to support "no" vote for yet another reason. Sometimes, I see guys sneaking in huge amount of drinks (2 cases of beer, a tall bottle of vodka, etc.). Almost all of these guys get wasted before the round is over and their behavior often goes south..

My girlfriend lives along the course. Sometimes as I pass her house she'll bring me a beer to refresh me along the way. That is the only time I'll ever "sneak" anything on. I don't feel right about it though.

I'm pretty sure they don't allow you to bring in your own water at movie theaters or sporting stadiums.

Well. Yes and no. Generally, I bring an empty Gatorade bottle to fill with water. One of our local courses has no coolers or water fountains. The only way to do it is wedge the thing into the sink to get about 2/3 of the bottle. Some have proper coolers on the course. Others don't.

I pack lots of water and club sodas in a cooler for my round. You can't have people out in the midsummer sun for over four hours without ample water. I drank 12 club sodas and two water bottles during my round on Friday. Any less and I would have began hallucinating.

The majority of the courses in my area have been looking the other way when it comes to personal coolers with the current COVID situation where most drinking water has been removed from the course. There is one that I play where they will always ask if you have alcohol in it, and if you don't, you are welcome to bring a cooler.

As b. belts said, for every guy that has a cooler with non-alcoholic drinks, there a 10 that are cramming their bags and coolers with outside alcohol. So you can't trust anyone and you have to say no to all coolers. The big problem is the liability that could happen if someone gets drunk and then drives off and hits someone causing injury or death.
