The main job of Field Radio Operators is to employ radio to send and receive messages. Typical duties include the setup and tuning of radio equipment, including building and repairing antennas and power sources.

A Marine will not be promoted if, in the opinion of the commander, the Marine is not capable of performing satisfactorily in the higher grade, even though all other promotion requirements have been met.
12 monthsStarting April 1, lance corporals and corporals must have 12 months time-in-grade before they can add another stripe. Currently, lance corporals will be promoted on the first day of the quarter if they have the cutting score and will hit eight months in grade at any time during the quarter.
