UMBC Administered Departmental Exams are not applicable toward general education program requirements. Only one First-Year Seminar (FYS) course can be used throughout the general education program. The course must have an approved general education program designation and it can only be utilized in the designated category.

The degree audit is only available for students who started their UMBC career between 2004 and the present. If a student started with UMBC prior to 2004 they will only see University requirements and will need to work even more closely with their advisor to ensure successful degree completion.

Maximum Number of Credits Accepted in Transfer UMBC will accept a maximum of 60 credits from two-year colleges and a maximum of 90 total transfer credits, which includes AP, IB, and CLEP credit.
UMBC will award credit and/or placement based on the scores indicated in the approved Advanced Placement (AP) examinations listed. To receive credit for AP exams, students must have an official Advanced Placement score report sent to the UMBC Office of Undergraduate Admissions.
Students who elect to complete the requirements of multiple majors must submit a Declaration of Major form with the Registrar's Office to declare their major intent. Upon filing the form, the primary, secondary, third or more major will be specified.
