Financial aid may be adjusted or canceled as a result of withdrawal and may require repayment of loan funds. Adjustments to financial aid awards will be calculated according to University and Federal refund guidelines based on the official withdrawal date. Once the withdrawal has been completed, students will receive a grade of “W” for each course.
To view your tuition refund and withdraw deadlines, visit My Tuition Refund and Withdraw Deadlines in myHCC. During 15-week terms (fall and spring): Students are eligible for a graduated tuition refund: 100 percent of tuition, the consolidated fee, and course fees by the end of the first week; 50 percent of tuition and consolidated fee only by the end of the second week.
Withdrawals processed by the deadline date for course ADDS are treated as course DROPS. Withdrawals AFTER the Change of Program (registration) deadline are processed with the “W” grade. The last day to withdraw from a course shall not be later than 4 weeks prior to the end of the semester, including the final examination period.
Sadly, in academia, there's also the word “Withdraw.” Withdrawing means you drop a class after the allowed add/drop period ends. You won't receive a grade for the class, but a “W” will show up on your transcript, indicating that you were not doing well in the course and essentially quit the class.May 2, 2020
Students who find it necessary to withdraw from all of their classes for the current semester or for a subsequent semester for which they have already registered must complete a Total Withdrawal Request Form. This form can be accessed below, and must be submitted to officially withdraw from the university.
“A withdrawal will be on the transcripts but does not affect GPA.” Croskey also noted that there aren't any limits to how many classes one can drop because they don't go on the transcript. Withdrawals though are limited and can look bad if there are too many on a student's transcript.
Withdraw Admission: Declining admission to the university which results in the cancellation of enrollment in all courses. This applies only to first semester undergraduate students.

As a general rule of thumb, having one “W” should not be too big of a deal. However, if you continue to get them, medical schools will see this as a red flag in your potential to do well at medical school. Myth 2: You should always take a bad grade over a “W.”
In general, withdrawing from one class (as long as you have been attending the class) during a semester won't affect scholarship aid you've already received, but may impact your eligibility during future semesters.
Important Definitions. Course Drop: Removal of a course from your schedule prior to the end of the first week of class. Course Withdrawal: Any removal of a course from your schedule after the end of week one using the online form provided.Jan 18, 2022
Can I reapply for the same course or university? There are no restrictions on reapplying to the same university or even the same course. In fact you may have a better chance of getting on to the same course again, as it demonstrates you are serious about the course and only dropped out due to unforeseen circumstances.
If you do not participate in a class and do not withdraw, you will receive a failing grade. Federal and institutional rules require ASU to review your financial aid eligibility if you receive any EN (Failure Due to Never Participating) grades.
Refunds are determined by the date you officially drop your class (es) through myHCC or in-person. Non-attendance does not constitute an official drop. Refunds are based on class start dates and the total number of class meetings. The refund policy is not based on the number of times you have attended the class.
Failure to attend classes does not release a student from financial obligations to the college. Students who are deployed military or emergency workers impacted by a national emergency are encouraged to contact the Office of Records, Registration and Veterans Affairs for additional refund information.
During the third week, students may still drop a class but are not eligible for refunds.

Students are encouraged to pick a minor--or a second major--in their sophomore year. Every Political Science (POLS) major must choose a minor, and that minor can be in COAS, SOC, SOEd or SOB. Read up on the different COAS minors and the classes they offer here: https://coas.howard.edu/degrees-programs/majors-minors

For special courses (private instruction in music or tutorial study) if a special fee is charged, such a fee is not covered by the Consortium Agreement and must be paid by the student to the host institution. This applies to any fee assessed to a course.
It is important to note that the Cross-Registration function of the Consortium is a privilege, not a right. All registration for the Consortium is completed here at Howard University (HU) by the consortium coordinator. HU students do not have to register at the visited institution.
