Genesis 41:28-32 ESV / 4 helpful votesNot Helpful. It is as I told Pharaoh; God has shown to Pharaoh what he is about to do. There will come seven years of great plenty throughout all the land of Egypt, but after them there will arise seven years of famine, and all the plenty will be forgotten in the land of Egypt.
Ever since Adam, mankind has been set on a course. A course in which they would direct their own steps by enacting their own law and a course which would ultimately lead to their death. But, the Father sent His Son and chose a people to change the very course of history!
As Jesus says in John 5:17, God is always working, directing the movement of history to bring about His desired ends. Bullinger's approach is to be …
Sep 04, 2014 · A) THE DESTRUCTION OF THE TEMPLE. In Matthew 24:16-21, we read of a prophecy that Jesus gave regarding the destruction of the temple: “Let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. Let no one on the housetop go down to take anything out of the house. Let no one in the field go back to get their cloak.
The vision of Isaiah the son of Amoz, which he saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah. Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth; for the Lord has spoken: “Children have I reared and brought up, but they have rebelled against me. The ox knows its owner, and the donkey its master's crib, but Israel does not know, my people do not understand.” Ah, sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, offspring of evildoers, children who deal corruptly! They have forsaken the Lord, they have despised the Holy One of Israel, they are utterly estranged. Why will you still be struck down? Why will you continue to rebel? The whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint. ...

What the Bible says about God's Control of History. A cursory reading of these verses might give a person the impression that God was just sitting on His throne, twiddling His fingers, and waiting for Israel to do something. But God had already begun to act.
God led them on a journey that took forty years to complete, through an area in which, from all the records, they did not grow a crop or tend huge flocks of animals, yet all their needs were supplied, at least all the basic needs—food and water. Whenever they were attacked, God defended them.
The third word is "word.". Normally, a Bible student would probably immediately think of logos as being the Greek for "word," but such is not the case here. It is instead the Greek word rhema, which means "the revealed word.".
Such a person, because he has had the mystery of God revealed to him— the purpose He is working out—begins to see God in everything that is happening because God is his companion. He has a relationship with Him. Because of his fellowship with God, he tries to see everything through God's eyes, as it were.
The Christian begins to see God in his environment, the earth —and discovers that it is all under God's control. We can see where God says, "I raise up kings. I put down kings.". Sometimes these are "the basest of men," but because we are beginning to think like God, we understand why He does such things.
Either He is the only King of kings who has perfect vision, limitless power, and unassailable wisdom, or He is God in name only. It cannot be any other way; there is no middle ground in this issue.
Certainly not the children of Israel! God did! We find all the way back in the book of Genesis that God had already prophesied that in about 400 years, He would move to bring the children of Abraham out of a captivity, which He also arranged.
The Bible seems to indicate that some events are going to happen no matter what. That God in His sovereignty has chosen to act, and no amount of prayer or free-will will stop these events from occurring.
The Bible seems to indicate that God has a desire for certain things to happen, but whether they happen or not is determined by several factors: our decisions, other’s decisions, Satanic opposition, and how much we are willing to seek God in prayer.
His advisors-all of whom worship idols, not God—have told him to march north to battle because victory is guaranteed. But Ahab wavers. He wants confirmation from an outside source. On the recommendation of a friend, a prophet of God is brought in. His name is Micaiah.
In Matthew 24:16-21, we read of a prophecy that Jesus gave regarding the destruction of the temple: “Let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. Let no one on the housetop go down to take anything out of the house. Let no one in the field go back to get their cloak. How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers! Pray that your flight will not take place in winter or on the Sabbath. For then there will be great distress, unequalled from the beginning of the world until now—and never to be equalled again”.
But amazingly, Jesus saw things very differently. He turned to Jarius and said: “Don’t be afraid; just believe” (Mark 5:36).
Blaise Pascal , one of the most significant thinkers to have ever lived, said: “God instituted prayer in order to lend to His creatures the dignity of causality”. In other words, he believed that our prayers can shape the course of history.
Mark 5 tells the story of how Jarius, one of the Synagogue Leaders, came to Jesus begging for Him to heal his daughter. Jesus agreed to do so, but before they could make it to Jarius’ house, some people came to report that Jarius’ daughter had died. They then asked: “Why bother the teacher anymore?” (Mark 5:35).
Why Jesus Stands Apart. What Jesus taught was so radically different than anything else that in the end he was killed for it. Even so, that’s still probably not enough to hugely impact humanity. Thousands of people have had radical ideas, lived out their lives and died in obscurity without ever being noticed.
Here are just a few of the things that Jesus taught which seem backward. To become more prosperous give away some of what you have. To be promoted to leadership become a servant to others. Instead of cursing our enemies we should bless them. Persecution for his sake is actually a blessing.
In addition to the example above when the people wanted to make Jesus king, there was his temptation in the wilderness. Satan attacked Jesus’ identity and offered him a shortcut to a kingdom without having to go through all the incredibly painful parts that had to happen in the original plan.
So much so that today there are 2 billion plus people on the planet who believe Jesus was raised from the dead. If you look at other major world religious groups, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, and such, only Christians follow a leader who is still living. The tomb of Jesus is empty. And that is why Jesus totally changed history.
The Bible says it was because he knew the joy that was waiting for him once he paid the price.
When he sees where the situation is going he sneaks away. To most of us that looks like Jesus missed a great opportunity to change the world. Conventional wisdom says that he could do so much more to impact the world as a king than as an itinerant preacher. But Jesus saw it differently.
When the people saw him do this miraculous sign, they exclaimed, Surely, he is the Prophet we have been expecting! When Jesus saw that they were ready to force him to be their king, he slipped away into the hills by himself. — John 6:14-15. The people were on the verge of forcing Jesus to be their king.
Be that as it may, the Bible, both before and after the 1611 edition of the King James Version – its first printing – has changed many times. The KJV has also been changed, revised in matters of text, punctuation, and content. There are those of course who deny that is possible, but it is nonetheless historical fact. For example, in 1611 when the first edition of the KJV appeared the English alphabet did not contain the letter j, and the name of Jesus was rendered Iesus, with subsequent editions later changing it to the more modern appearance. J did not appear as distinct from I in the English language until 1633. Here are other examples of how the Bible has changed over time, none of them related to CERN and its research into particle physics.
Some of the errors were due to the desire to maintain a consistent appearance of the text in columns, and led to inconsistent use of contractions, spellings, and other issues.
The project was abandoned when it was determined that the resultant Bible would be unacceptably large. The English Restoration made the Geneva Bible heretical in the eyes of the Church of England, and by the end of the 17 th century the Authorized Version was the most commonly found Bible in England.
The two editions are known as the Great He Bibles for those which indicate Boaz went into the city, and the Great She Bibles for those which have Ruth making the journey. According to some Hebrew scholars, the error is not typographical at all, they cite that the original Hebrew text translates as he, and the translators, in order to change the context of the passage to place Ruth in the city, as the story seems to require, deliberately changed the pronoun in the Bishop’s Bible, which preceded the KJV. So whether Ruth or Boaz entered the city is the subject of debate among Bible scholars, a controversy which begins with the first and second editions of the King James Version of the Hebrew Bible, in which the text was clearly changed, whether deliberately or not.
The Cambridge editions addressed the inaccuracies induced by poor quality control, attempted (in 1638) to standardize the spelling to match that of the English of the time, and made more than 200 changes to the text provided by the original translators. The Cambridge revisions were not new translations, but revisions to the existing 1611 translations, and mainly inserted marginal notes, many of which had come from the Geneva Bible, into the main text of the work. Thus the main text of the Authorized Version was changed without additional reference to the source data provided by the original manuscripts, in an attempt to render the work in the vernacular of the people who were not educated in the ancient languages of Latin and Greek.
Another change in Luke, which does not appear in the early copies of the Gospel attributed to him, is that Jesus asked forgiveness of his executioners, because they did not know what they were doing. The oldest known copies of Luke’s gospel do not recount the forgiveness bequeathed from the cross, the story was added in the fifth century in the Greek documents. As with many additions, it was likely added to reflect the Christian teaching which had evolved by that time.
The King James Version of the Bible was translated from Hebrew, Greek, Latin, and Aramaic by committees made up of 47 scholars, all but one members of the clergy of the Church of England.
The second sign would be the appearance of the man of sin. This person has four different names or titles, but all of them are described similarly: the man of sin ( II Thessalonians 2:3-10 ), the little horn ( Daniel 7:8 ), the two-horned lamb who spoke like a dragon ( Revelation 13:11-18 ), and the false prophet ( Revelation 19:20 ). The description in each location is not exactly alike, but each adds to what the other gives. Consider this summary of comparisons.
Paul wrote II Thessalonians to correct a false impression held by the members of the church in Thessalonica. He did this by telling them what Christ had revealed to him regarding the "gathering together with Christ" of those dead in Christ and those remaining alive when He returned.
In two of them, the signs are done in the presence of the Beast, showing they are not the same figure ( Revelation 13:13-15; 19:20 ).
In Psalm 12:7, God promised to preserve His Word from “this GENERATION for ever.” Preservation served to prevent accidental corruption of the text during transmission. Also, this divine preservation counters the deliberate, concentrated war on the Bible by Satan and his agents. This conspiracy to pervert the Word of God is world wide, and dates to the most ancient of times. The Word has been under attack since the serpent deceived Eve. The enemy of mankind, knowing that the scriptures lead to salvation, causes man to doubt the Bible, reject the Bible, and even alter the Bible. The corruptions are as numerous as the heresies which spawned them. God has strengthened and purified His Word, that it may stand against this assault. Martin Luther once said, “The Bible is like a lion; it does not need to be defended; just let it loose and it will defend itself .” God has preserved His Word, and it can defend itself. Despite the opposition of devil and man, God’s Word remains pure, inspired, and inerrant. How do we know that heretics have attempted to change the Word of God? God has given us warning about heretics bringing perversions of the gospel. 1 The Lord takes His Word very seriously. He has preserved it for us. He has commanded us not to change it in any way. He has also given us warning about those who alter it, and to those who alter it.
The primary culprits include Satan, hardened sinners, heretics, false prophets, false teachers, and false apostles, along with their followers (ignorant as they may be).

21. Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations , and their foolish heart was darkened. 25. Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
The eight article of faith of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon) states: “We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.” 4 The telling sign of a false prophet is a prophecy that does not come to pass.

Paul reproved the Galatians for falling into “another gospel” (Galatians 1:6), a false gospel, and warned them of those who “pervert the gospel of Christ.” (Galatians 1:7). The apostle Peter gave a very blunt warning about false teachers bringing false words: 2 Peter 2:1-3. 1.
The Bible gives us clear guidelines on what should change and what should stay the same. “I, the Lord, never change,” God declares in Malachi 3:6. So that’s where we start. Change means a move in another direction. For God to change would mean that He either becomes better or worse, and God is ultimate perfection.
In fact, God built into us the ability to change. Part of being created in God’s image is that human beings can think, reason, and come to conclusions distinct from physical or material realities ( Genesis 1:27 ). When God created Adam and Eve, they were perfect, but mutable.
The Christian life is an ongoing series of changes as we grow in knowledge, faith, and holiness ( 1 Peter 1:16; Hebrews 12:14 ). We grow in Christ ( 2 Peter 3:18 ), and growth requires change. Even good changes can be uncomfortable and scary.
Under the terms of the New Covenant, the Son of God Himself became the sacrifice, and the old system, having served its purpose, became obsolete ( Luke 22:20; Hebrews 9:11–14 ). God’s holiness, His wrath against sin, and His extension of mercy did not change, but He did provide a better sacrifice for us: the perfect Lamb of God ( John 1:29;
If God’s character does not change, then His Word does not change. His truth, standards, and way of salvation will never change ( John 14:6 ). Changeable humans do not have the power or authority to change God’s Word, and only the foolish will try. Change for its own sake is neither good nor bad.
However, Jesus strongly validated the Scriptures and called them “truth” ( John 17:17 ). He also said, “For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.”.
Repentance and faith in Christ is God’s avenue of change to restore us to Himself. Once we are “ in Christ ,” everything changes. We are born again ( John 3:3 ). Our ideas change. Our perspective changes. Our values and actions change to line up with God’s Word.
