The Basic Officer Leaders Course (BOLC) is a two-phased training course designed to produce commissioned officers in the United States Army. It is a progressive model designed to produce US Army officers with leadership skills, small unit tactics and certain branch specific capabilities.

Seniors Leaders Course (SLC) is a branch-specific course that provides an opportunity for Soldiers selected for promotion to SFC to acquire the leader, technical, and tactical skills, knowledge, and experience needed to lead platoon-size units.
Key lessons include discussing servant leadership, examining the mission command philosophy, writing an persuasive essay, preparing and delivering a military briefing, and using the military decision making process (MDMP). As a result, leaners will be able to train, lead, and conduct operations at the squad level.
three weekThis is a three week resident course taught which uses hands-on, performance-oriented training and simulations as the primary methods of instruction. Distributed Leader Course Level I (DLC I) teaches initial term Soldiers to communicate ideas and thoughts clearly, recognize the need for strong character and values, demonstrate tactical and technical competence, and take initiative to become a lifelong learner by exploring interests and pursuing a civilian education.
All soldiers attending BLC must first be recommended for promotion to sergeant. This change goes into effect on June 1, 2022, for active-duty soldiers and Oct. 1, 2022, for reservists.Jun 7, 2021
