Can I take more than 21 credits during a single semester (or more than 10.0 credits during a block/term)? Twenty-one credit hours is the recommended maximum. Students must obtain permission from the Student Records and Registration Office to take more than 21 credits per semester or 10 credits per block/term.
The maximum number of credits students may earn at BYU-Idaho is 80 credit hours for an associate degree and 140 credit hours for a bachelor degree. Students wishing to continue at BYU-Idaho must justify exceeding the 80-credit or 140-credit limit through a petition submitted to the Academic Standards Committee.
Credit/No Credit (CR/NC) is taking a course pass or fail. It is an option available to allow you to a take an academic risk or pursue new subject matter. The grade submitted by your professor for a CR/NC course is not factored into your GPA.

"T" grades represent a temporary grade that was assigned for courses that do not fall within the normal academic deadlines of any given semester (e.g., internships, student teaching, tours). T grades can only be assigned by the Student Records and Registration Office for courses that meet these conditions.
W grades are considered non-progress grades and are calculated into the 75% progress requirement. If you are receiving Federal Financial Aid, you must check with that office to determine how W grades affect your eligibility.
W Grades (Withdrawal) W grades are placed on your academic record (transcript) if you drop a class anytime after the 22nd day in a semester (or after the 15th day in a block) up until the final drop deadline, for any reason. W grades are NOT calculated into your grade point average (GPA).
T grades do not impact a student’s G PA, but may impact Satisfactory Academic Standing in that the credits for the course are counted as attempted, but not yet earned. Therefore, instructors over courses for which T grades are assigned are encouraged to submit their final grades as soon as the coursework is completed.
Instructor approval is mandatory, and the instructor may choose not to allow an incomplete contract since it requires the instructor to individually work with the student in addition to his or her normal workload. The Incomplete Grade Contract form is available online here .
Repeat classes allow a class to be taken two or more times for ad-ditional credit. Most classes at BYU–Idaho are not repeatable for credit. Departments establish the maximum number of times a class can be repeated. A repeated class does not replace the former grade or credit of a previously completed class. Approval to enroll in a repeatable course for the purpose of replacing a previous credit and grade must be obtained from the Academic Exceptions Committee prior to registering for the course.
Under certain circumstances, BYU–Idaho allows students to petition for Academic Renewal. If approved, this eliminates previous poor academic work either at BYU–Idaho or elsewhere, from the student’s academic record. Before petitioning for Academic Renewal, the fol-lowing 1.conditions A minimum must of be four met: years must have elapsed since the most recent coursework to be disregarded was completed.
A UW grade represents an unofficial withdrawal which is given to a student who meets the following criteria: The student did not complete proper withdrawal procedures from the course (i.e., did not drop the class within the established academic deadlines).

Retake classes replace the credit and grade of a previously completedequivalent course. The most recent completed course is calculatedinto the GPA and earned credits. Previous courses remain on thetranscript and are designated as retake classes.
Brigham Young University-Idaho offers a limited number of"Pass/Fail" classes. Students in these classes receive no letter grade;instead, they either pass or fail depending on whether or not theyhave met the class criteria.
