The purpose of time, which is forgiveness, was given by the Holy Spirit in answer to the ego's purpose of time, which is guilt. His emphasis is therefore on the only aspect of time that can extend to the infinite, for now is the closest approximation of eternity that this world offers.

“Nothing real can be threatened. Nothing unreal exists.” These profound words sum up the contemporary scripture, A Course in Miracles. In this inspired companion to the Course, we discover that fear and thought are the same — the source of personal problems and social conflict.
Wonderful. This book arrived in excellent condition, even though it was used. I tried ACIM in the 1980s for a couple of months, sparsely attended a local group, but just wasn't getting it. I started feeling bad about not being to be able to successfully do the later (more demanding) exercises.

The Course recognizes that changing our thinking is a process. It is why it gives us 365 lessons to facilitate that process and then tells us that is only the beginning. We will continue to be taught by our inner Teacher as we practice bringing all our ideas to Him for His interpretation.
We can ask the Holy Spirit for a different way to see what seems to be in front of us. The Holy Spirit reminds us that there is only Love or a call for Love. And no matter which it is, the appropriate response is Love.
Paragraph 6 introduces the idea that projection makes perception. This idea is central to understanding how forgiveness frees us from the world of perception. Because our perception is a projection that coming from our own mind, we have complete control over what we perceive.
Jesus helps us understand that what we thought we did in our desire to be separated from Love, our Source, never happened in truth. He helps us understand that we are just dreaming of being in a world of separation. In truth, we are still Love, as Love created us.
There are no facts in this world of perception. Its keynote is instability and change. The keynote of the world of Reality is certainty and changelessness. We can use these attributes as a yard stick to determine whether whatever what we are perceiving is real or not.
What He creates is Truth, which is changeless, beyond time and has no opposite. The world of perception is unreal, always changing, based on interpretation, not on facts. A fact must be based on reality and reality must be all inclusive because it was created by God.
It tells us that everything we see when we look out through the body’s eyes cannot be real because there is not one thing my body’s eyes see that does not change. This is certainly a radically different view than what we have been taught about this world.
The Course teaches that our judgment of others is the ego’s way of projecting our own guilt onto them. But there is no justification for guilt because God does not judge. We remain eternally as He created us. At the conclusion of its powerful introduction, the Course states that “Nothing real can be threatened.
In the Course, the ego is that part of the mind that believes itself separate from God and all others. It is the ego that projects our guilt outward, onto our brothers, judging and blaming them.
In truth, there is only the oneness of God, and separation from God is not possible. The instant that the idea of separateness arose, however, God’s plan of Atonement came into being to . 15. ensure that the Son of God would find his way out of his delusion of separation, back to his home in God.
A Course in Miracles is a complete self-study spiritual thought system that teaches that the way to universal love and peace–or remembering God–is by undoing guilt through forgiving others, healing our relationships and making them holy. - Foundation for Inner Peace.
A Course in Miracles works by helping you to shift your mindset. Undoing fear and stepping into love is what ACIM teaches. Your thoughts create your reality and therefore, if you can shift these thoughts from fear to love, your reality will change.
2. “Miracles enable you to heal the sick and raise the dead because you made sickness and death yourself, and can therefore abolish both. You are a miracle, capable of creating in the likeness of your Creator. Everything else is your own nightmare, and does not exist. Only the creations of light are real.”.
The painful emotion that stems from believing that you have sinned and have thus corrupted your being, making yourself worthy of punishment and unworthy of love. The Course teaches that this belief is false, for your true nature as God’s holy Son is incorruptible.
The activity of the Holy Spirit which shifts our perception from the false to true and thereby grants an unconditional, instantaneous, and free deliverance from the imprisoning (yet illusory) problems of this world. We accept miracles into our own minds, extend them to others (which is the primary meaning of the world in the Course), and thereby recognise that we have received them.
Love. The single emotion of Heaven. In love we view something as so attractive, so compatible with us, that we go out to it, give ourselves to it, and join with it. We can only truly love as God does, Who loves everyone equally and totally.
The Course teaches that we only expect to be attacked because we secretly believe that we are sinful and thus deserving of attack. Fear is the essential mood of the ego.
As Krishnamurti once said, here paraphrased: eat meat or don’t eat meat but get on with it. In other words, the healing the course contemplates has nothing to do with our bodies. We can’t eat or fast or exercise or dance or walk our way to inner peace. It’s all in the mind.
Don’t endanger yourself or others in the name of spirituality. Eat well; eat in a way that minimizes guilt; eat in a way that extends love to your brothers and sisters. We gain nothing by depriving ourselves of calories, nutrients, water and the simple joys that attend eating.
Indeed, to become invested or attached to one form of love or peace, is to confuse form withlove. Essentially, by insisting that the body behave in this specific way – celibacy, veganism, vipassana meditation etc. – we are making the body (ours and others) and the world real.
But Jesus, in the Course, once remarked that pleasure and pain are actually the same at this order of reality because both affirm the existence of the body. The Course is trying to help us understand that we are not bodies. That’s probably why it’s short on directing us on food habits.
Perception is a result and not a cause. T-21.in.1. The concept of diet, like all false concepts, reflects a belief that something of the world is causative. Yet the Holy Spirit looks not to effects, having judged their “cause” – ego – as unreal.
Thus, you can be a devout meat eater – taking down a meat lover’s pizza every night and a rasher of bacon at breakfast – and be a student of A Course in Miracles. You can also be a vegetarian. Or a vegan. You can be – as Calvin of Calvin and Hobbesonce said – a dessertatarian and be a student of the course.
Its references to behavior are scant at best. That is because correcting behavior does not necessarily heal the mind, while healing the mind will always affect behavior – though often in surprising ways.
