Coursework is work performed by students or trainees for the purpose of learning. Coursework may be specified and assigned by teachers, or by learning guides in self-taught courses.
What is a Course? A course is a series of classes. These classes are all in one area of study. Therefore, when choosing a major, you will take courses geared towards that major. Courses are assigned credits.
COURSE CODE: These identifiers are fairly general but provide enough specificity to identify the course's topic and to distinguish it from other courses in that Course Subject Area. Course Subject Area – the intended major subject category of the course. Each Course Subject Area is represented by a two-digit code.
Some of the most widely used form of coursework include thesis, dissertations, research paper & term paper as far as writing is concerned. Model making, crafts and other similar activity is generally given when creativity aspect is to be assessed. There may be a combination of these in few cases.
Postgraduate coursework: advanced classes Choosing a coursework degree means you'll attend lectures and tutorials, complete assignments and sit exams – just like your first degree. You'll be taught discrete units that are part of a set program and at a higher academic level than your undergrad.
The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is a four-year degree program that teaches students the necessary skills and knowledge for health care. It revolves around four main components; health promotion, disease prevention, risk reduction, and health restoration.
Course Numbers These numbers are the main way colleges organize their course catalog. No two courses at a college will share the exact same course number. The most useful thing for students to understand about these numbers is how to distinguish between upper-level credit and lower-level credit.
What does “course of study” mean on a job application? Usually, “course of study” is asking you what your college major was. If you attended some type of vocational or other school or classes instead of or in addition to college, whatever your main focus was would be your “course of study.”
Courses are designated by two numbers, separated by a colon. The first number refers to the department or area of the course; the second number refers to the specific course. For example, in the course designated 600:111 the "600" refers to the Department of Art and the "111" refers to the course.
The course name is the title of the course. The names of IIPS and classroom courses are closely connected to the registration lists for the courses.
Course level means the degree of difficulty or complexity of the content of a course in a specific subject area, such as an honors level course.
The role of the end-of-module examination is to test rather than to teach, whereas assessment by coursework achieves both outcomes. Because of time pressure, examinations do not result in work of academic excellence, whereas assessment by coursework enables students to produce their best work.
The key difference between a coursework and an essay is that the coursework is longer, involves more research and provides more detailed information and evidence on the subject. Unlike the essay a course paper is almost always based on practice and does not involve much theoretical data.

If you are interested in one of the courses listed below but don't see it offered in your school's course catalog, first talk to your guidance counselor or the department head. Your school may, in fact, offer the course, but under a different name. If there is no comparable course and you are really interested in the subject, you may be able to do an independent study or take the course at a local community college for credit. Ask your guidance counselor for more information on pursuing this option.
