Please note: UCLA will only allow up to 70 semester or 105 quarter units from transferable lower-division coursework to be applied toward your degree once you’re admitted. Therefore, transfers with more than the 86 semester or 129 quarter maximum number of units from two-year colleges will still be considered as junior-level. UC courses and upper-division courses from four-year institutions will not be capped (at 70 semester or 105 quarter units). Those units can put you at risk of exceeding the maximum for transfer eligibility and becoming senior-level.

If you’re choosing a major outside of the College and the Samueli School of Engineering you must submit a supplemental application directly to that professional school before November 30. The professional schools that require supplemental applications are: School of the Arts and Architecture.

From a community college: You may also attend a community college summer session after you become a UCLA student. You’ll receive only unit credit for summer session coursework taken; grades earned during summer session at an institution other than a UC campus are not computed in your grade point average.

UCLA awards college credit for AP exams with scores of three or higher. The specific credit you receive depends on the college/school your major belongs to:
he UCLA Degree Audit evaluates your progress toward meeting graduation requirements in your major. It’s a critical tool for selecting classes and plotting your academic course. It will be explained in-depth at New Student Orientation. After that, you can create your own audit by logging on to MyUCLA with your UCLA Logon ID.
If you passed any Advanced Placement (AP) or higher-level International Baccalaureate (IB) exams, the official results must be received in our office by July 15, 2021. Provided we receive your official results, credit from these exams should appear on your record some time during your first term at UCLA.

If you’re unable to attend a New Student Orientation session, you’ll need to contact New Student & Transition Programs so they can advise you on how to enroll and other critical matters. You’ll also need to complete an online module for mandatory health education.
If you have submitted official transcripts of all pre-UCLA college work — including courses in progress and planned — to Undergraduate Admission, your audit will reflect the evaluation of your transfer credit at UCLA.

Although the other schools (Engineering; Arts and Architecture; Music; Nursing; and Theater, Film and Television) don’t currently offer a formal honors component, students in these schools can take honors courses offered through the College. June 8.

To gain a better understanding regarding how your classes transfer, it is best to talk a counselor in College Academic Counselling or your department counselor. If you do not know who your department counselor is, go to your department’s webpage to find out where the advising office is located.

To get involved in research students do not need to have previous experience or know everything there is to know about research. Most students start out doing data entry and work toward doing more complicated research as they learn.
