This 80 hour course builds on the concepts in Basic and Intermediate Investigation and prepares the student to attend Accident Reconstruction Course.

The Completion of Academy Training – All candidates selected to become Los Angeles police officers must complete six months of training at the LAPD Academy. The curriculum of the LAPD Academy includes the following: Academics in preliminary investigation, report writing, traffic investigation, and traffic enforcement.
The Career Ladder – All LAPD officers begin their careers working in patrol. While some officers choose to remain in patrol, others choose to pursue promotion to specialized divisions, such as criminal investigations, after a few years in the field. The first promotion is from officer to detective.
Promotion to detective occurs no sooner than four years after working as a police officer in patrol.

Traffic safety represents a major area where the improvements can be made, mainly as it saves human lives. To know the “why?” we need to determine “what and how it happened.”
The accident investigation is a field of practice that requires specialized study, training and experience. This GL O MACS training course is focused on the initial step towards the accident reconstruction and analysis, and will provide the delegates adequate knowledge to answer the questions: What? Where? When? Who? What with? Whom with? Why? How?
This GL O MACS Traffic Accident Investigation training course will use proven adult learning techniques with the focus on exercises, different case studies and solving actual problems.
The participants will obtain fundamental, theoretical and practical knowledge as well as integrated information about traffic safety, traffic accident, accident investigations and reconstruction of a traffic accident, as well as the creation of a road safety database.
This GL O MACS Traffic Accident Investigation training course is a course for all involved in Health, Safety, Environment and Security as well as process improvement.
This is the final phase in the basic collision investigation series. In phase three , the student will continue to expand on knowledge and skills acquired during Phases One and Two. After Phase Three , using projects, crash testing, and case studies, the student will be able to confidently arrive at the scene of a collision, collect and interpret valuable evidence, complete a scale diagram, and calculate a speed estimate, and then prosecute the case in court.
This course will teach collision reconstructionist how to investigate and reconstruct collisions involving motorcycles. Students will learn methods to obtain the speed of the motorcycle including airborne, wheelbase deformation and vehicle crush, kinetic energy, and time and distance methods. Course includes live crash testing.
Topics such as linear momentum, principle direction of force, Newton’s Laws of Motion, rollover investigation, air bag and restraint systems, interior passenger compartment inspections, as well as basic human anatomy, medical records, and injury investigations will be covered.
In this course the participant will learn, through extensive hands on projects and field exercises, photogrammetry techniques for video sources, which are geared towards a law enforcement or investigations application. Projects starting with the beginner in mind which will teach the participant the basics of photogrammetry and then will progress to projects including recreating a collision scene from a video shot, after the event has occured, as well as velocity extraction from videos shot during the event. The course will culminate with a final on scene project with known parameters for attendees to compare their results to. Video sources discussed include: dash cameras, law enforcement dash cameras, law enforcement body-worn cameras, cell phone cameras, surveillance cameras, and action type cameras.
