A knowledge of American History and federal and state institutions is required of all degree candidates. If you graduated from a California high school your AHI requirement is considered complete. Students from other states may ask the UC San Diego Admissions Office to clear the requirement if they completed comparable course work in high school.
The simple answer: you must complete 120 college credits to earn a bachelor’s degree. That’s about 40 classes, which most people assume you can complete in 4 years. But it’s more complicated than that. You can’t just register for 40 random courses and expect to walk away with a bachelor’s degree.

In their earliest student years, many students enroll for fewer than 15 units per term, the minimum a student needs to take per term in order to earn the 180 units for graduation in four years. The current default option for students is to take a minimum of 12 units per term.
