I think the "wattage rating" you are talking about has to do with the draw from the outlet where you plug your power supply in. I have seen this on the tag on the back of power supplys before. I don't think it really has anything to do with the wattage an amplifier can do.

Class C maybe. My 100 watt FT-857 requires 25 amps. My older IC-735 required 20 amps for 100 watts.
