Does withdrawing from a course hurt your GPA?

“A withdrawal will be on the transcripts but does not affect GPA.” Croskey also noted that there aren't any limits to how many classes one can drop because they don't go on the transcript. Withdrawals though are limited and can look bad if there are too many on a student's transcript.

Recently Admitted Students (Not Yet Attended BYU-Idaho)

Will Attend After Mission: If you plan on attending BYU-Idaho directly after your mission, please fill out a Missionary Deferment Request. This allows you to start classes on the next track assignment following your mission without the need to re-apply to BYU-Idaho.

Classes dropped up to the Registration Deadline

Students may drop classes at any point during the registration period up until the Registration Deadline (7 days after the 1st day of the semester). A full tuition refund will be given for classes dropped up to the Registration Deadline.

Complete withdrawal from school

When a student withdraws from BYU-I after the Registration Deadline (7 days after the 1st day of the semester) , a pro-rated refund will be given until 60% of the term or semester has passed.

Block Classes

If you are attending a block class, special rules could apply to you. Be sure to contact our office to learn about what options are available.

NO REFUND

No refund will be given for dropped classes after the Registration Deadline unless the student officially withdraws from BYU-Idaho. In addition, there will be no refund given when a student withdraws from school after 60% of the term or semester has elapsed.

Can I defer a first block class?

Since you have already completed a first block class (es) you would not need to defer. Withdrawing from all of your classes except for a completed first block class may affect your academic standing.
