Groups are very similar to Schoology courses. A teacher can communicate with OSU EnvisionIT staff and other EnvisionIT teachers through the group. Teachers can also access the master curriculum (more on this later) from the EnvisionIT Teachers group. Take the tutorial to become more familiar with Schoology
There are a variety of ways that you can organize your course materials in Schoology. Similar to cleaning up your Google Drive, the key lies in using “folders” at the top level. Limit the number of individual materials and/or assignments you post on the main page.
To create a group, follow these steps: Click Groups at the top of Schoology. Select My Groups. Click Create Group on the right. Fill out the Group form. Write a Description (optional). Set Privacy to customize who can view the group. Set Access to customize who can join the group. Click Create to finish.
Click Course Options on the left menu of the course profile and select Edit Privacy/Course Settings to view and adjust your course privacy settings.
Instructors can see all students' webcams in a conference, but students can not see each others' webcams. Students can see their own webcam, share their webcam, and of course see the instructor's webcam. Instructors may also create breakout rooms in a conference that allows students in those sessions to see each other.
You can access your Privacy Settings using these steps: Click your name in the top right corner of any page in Schoology and select Settings. Click the Privacy Settings tab. Changing the settings by clicking the appropriate cell.
If you encounter a message that reads Private Access Only, the area you'd like to view may not be currently accessible for your Schoology account. This Private Access Only message might appear in the following areas of Schoology: User profiles. Courses and Groups. Parent View.
For most Premium Tier accounts, you can share webcams in BigBlueButton and students can see each other by unlocking the See other viewers webcams (in the lock settings). BigBlueButton will dynamically adjust the number of webcams moderators and viewers see based on the number of users in the session.

Groups are an excellent way to connect with people locally and worldwide. Depending on the permission settings at the administrative level, educators, parents, and even students can create or join Groups. They can be used to connect, collaborate, share materials, learn “best practices,” and more. There are so many different ways to use the Groups feature, they may become a vital part of your educational management.
To add a discussion to your group, follow these steps: Click Groups in the top menu and select a group you administer. Click Discussions in the left-hand menu. Click Add Discussion .

Group Resources is an area for members to share files and links that pertain to their interests. One of the unique features of this area is that you may allow other members to add to the Resources section.
Making a learning environment inviting and appealing for learners is another thing to consider for students learning at home. Course folders can be color-coded, images can be added, and other multimedia items can be embedded to make the course look like a fun place to learn.
Organization is key to any learning approach, but it’s especially critical when students are learning at home. It can be tempting when first starting out to just post items without organizing them. However, using course folders to collect items together will greatly help your students not feel overwhelmed and lost.
First, take everything you would normally send out separately throughout the year (syllabi, rubrics, writing documents, tip sheets, reflections, surveys, etc) and place it all in a folder. This will organize all of the useful resources your students need throughout the year in one easily identifiable and accessible location.
Next, create folders for each unit you teach throughout the year and place everything that correlates with that unit within the folder. From here, consider grouping “like assignments” in folders within the unit folder. Again, everything is kept neat and orderly and reflects the progression of skills that will be attained.
Lastly, it's important not only to get organized for the new school year but to stay organized as the school year progresses. I recommend doing this for 5 or 10 minutes each month just to keep things organized and most importantly … “findable” for future projects and school years.
