The Bible teaches us that there is such a thing as a doctrine of demons (1 Timothy 4:1). This implies that demons, under the direction of Satan, attempt to give instructions to people, including church going Christians. Jesus even called the devil a liar and the father of lies who cannot abide in the Truth (John 8:43-44).
As a pastor for the past couple decades, I have noted several key things that tend to cause Christians to drift away from God. Here are five of them: 1) An Out-of-Control Schedule. Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
However, we know from the life of Job, and we must always remember, that Satan is restrained by God. Satan can’t do anything without God knowing about it and even controlling it (either by stopping it or allowing it).
When Satan distracts us with “Christianity and”, we become prey for his schemes: his lies, temptations, and manipulations. But always remember, his three weapons cannot stand against the power that we have. “For greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world” ( 1 John 4:4 ).
The ones who hate Christianity are the ones who admire the devil. John 8:44 “You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him.
A.W. Tozer. “We aren’t called to be like other Christians; We are called to be like Christ.” -Stacy L. Sanchez. 1. The world hates us because we are not part of the world. John 15:19 “The world would love you as one of its own if you belonged to it, but you are no longer part of the world.
The world hates us because of our mission. Unbelievers love their self-righteousness. We have to tell people who think they’re good and have been doing the things society thinks will take them to Heaven that their good works mean nothing and their good deeds are just filthy rags. Pride is killing us.
3 things the devil does to stop Christians from doing God's will. "...for we are not ignorant of his devices...". (see 2 Corinthians 2:11) The Bible tells us that we should always be prepared for any of the devil's attacks against us. The enemy will not stop at anything until he succeeds in bringing God's people into sin and away from Him.
Three things the devil does to stop God's people from doing God's will. 1) Casting doubt on God. Genesis 3 gives us the first of Satan's tricks: casting doubt on God. Specifically, on God's word. In Genesis 3:1 we read the serpent attempting to sway Eve to eat the forbidden fruit.
Of course we know how Jesus countered him with Scripture that says we should all seek God and worship Him, no one else. Then we read how the devil tempted Christ to abuse His authority over angels and thus tempt God Himself. Christ was able to quickly refute him with Scripture. 3) Condemning us for our past choices.
Lastly, one of the most powerful techniques the devil employs is condemnation. If he can condemn us for our past sins, we will never be able to move forward in joy and in constant gratitude to God. The enemy will always bring to our remembrance wrong or sinful things that we've done before in order to condemn us.
When we doubt God's words, we fail to have faith. This will allow the enemy to deceive us like he did Eve. Luke 4 reveals to us another one of Satan's tactics: distraction. If the enemy can distract us from pursuing God's will, he will succeed in stopping us from doing what God wants.
Christians can prepare for victory against the enemy by learning about some of the common ways by which he tries to stop Christians from doing God's will. Are you ready? Let's go.
And when God forgives our sins, He also forgets them and erases them from memory. God said in Isaiah 43:25, "I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake; And I will not remember your sins.". This is the reason why Romans 8:1 is so powerful and true for all who believe and follow Christ as Lord:
Satan’s desire is to provoke us to walk in the flesh and not live in the Spirit.
From the Garden to our present day, Satan’s way has been to turn our heads, to redirect our eyes, and to divert our attention away from God and put it on anything else. He wants to distract us and cause us to focus on worldly ...
Just as Satan has the Big Three to cause us to sin, our God tells us the Big Three to avoid sin and live righteously. These three are the foundation of Christian faith: Love the Lord your God with all your heart, Love the Lord your God with all your soul, and. Love the Lord your God with all your mind.
The list is unending because the evil one is ruthless, so let’s look at three “big” schemes and how they can be summed up in one subtle, but destructive, tactic.
While Satan cannot inhabit us and make us sin, he can certainly mess with us and tempt us to sin. MANIPULATION: Satan schemes by using manipulation. While Satan is not all-powerful, he is very clever and skillful at manipulating situations and people—always to achieve his purpose of provoking us to sin. All of Satan’s attacks are done ...
God providentially protects His children from the evil one. While God also permissively allows trials, tribulations, pain, and suffering to enter our lives and to afflict us, it is always with a good reason and for a purpose that will be for our good and His glory.
Yes, Satan does attack us. He schemes to do harm and to cause us to sin. However, we know from the life of Job, and we must always remember, that Satan is restrained by God. Satan can’t do anything without God knowing about it and even controlling it (either by stopping it or allowing it). God providentially protects His children from the evil one. While God also permissively allows trials, tribulations, pain, and suffering to enter our lives and to afflict us, it is always with a good reason and for a purpose that will be for our good and His glory. Often, when we find ourselves in the midst of a storm, it’s difficult to believe that it’s for our good, however, in such times, we must always return to that which we know:
