What is Neopets? A codestone may be found lying around on the ground in Neopia, found at the Deserted Tomb, as a prize from certain Battledome opponents (especially Premium opponents like the Jetsam Ace and Space Faerie ), or won at Tombola .
There are four types of courses. Basic courses are easy, they don’t take long to complete, and can only be done by Neopets of level 20 and under. Advanced and Master courses take longer to complete and are for higher level pets. The most experienced Neopets take Grand Master courses.

The most experienced Neopets take Grand Master courses. When your Neopet reaches level 250, I am afraid that is the limit of my teaching, they must go elsewhere for guidance. You must pay in codestones.
Red Codestones are used to train your neopet above level 250. Up until level 250, you can train your neopets using regular codestones at the Training School on Mystery Island.
A codestone may be found lying around on the ground in Neopia, found at the Deserted Tomb, as a prize from certain Battledome opponents (especially Premium opponents like the Jetsam Ace and Space Faerie), or won at Tombola. You can use codestones to pay for training for your pets at the Mystery Island Training School.
If you want to train your pet faster, use Codestones. If you want to train your pet less expensively, use Dubloons. You can also train using Codestones during the day and with Dubloons at night before you go to sleep, and you can alternate between the schools as you please.
To be able to train here, you must have a pet that is level 250+. If you attempt to access it without one, you'll receive the following message: A mysterious door is before you, but you can not read the writing to decide what's within.

To get a single red codestone, you need to throw ten of the original codestones into the volcano here .
Training agility or movement is optional for most owners since agility is mainly needed only if you want to use stealers. There are also those who train their pets with much higher strength stats than their defence or train much higher defence stats than strength.

Mystery Island is approximately 600 miles east of Neopia Central, and is dominated by Techo Mountain, a volcano which has been extinct for roughly 2000 years. The fire based petpet known as Moltenus is kept dormant at the volcano's core, and it is thought that if he is ever fully awakened, the volcano will erupt again.
To get into a fight, find a "Battle!" button! There's one on the main Battledome page and one on (almost) every page in the Battledome navigation bar. This will allow you to set up a fight. From there, you choose which Neopet you'd like to take into battle, and then select your opponent!
There are two main types of codestones: regular codestones and red codestones.
The prices of codestones are always changing. During neopian wars and plots, the prices of codestones will rise by a few thousand due to the rush of neopets preparing for battle. There was also a period of time where codestones were very cheap when they were handed out as prizes to the now-defunct Key Quest game.
You should be able to find codestones with similar values by using the Shop Wizard. The following prices are rough estimates (as of 1/5/2020).
Codestones have been around since the training schools, which is for many years. Codestones are magical items, which came from Mystery Island. These rare rocks can be given to train pets, or traded for red codestones.
Red codestones. What are those you ask? They are “rare” stones used as “payment”. There are only two ways we know of on how to get a red codestone. You can either purchase one from the Shop Wizard, trading post or auctions, or go to the volcano. You must collect every single regular codestone (the yellow ones: main, lu etc.) and visit the Volcano.
Mystery Island Training School. At the Mystery Island Training School, you are able to train your Neopet for the Battledome. You can use this Training School until your pet reaches Level 250, at which point you will need to go to the Secret Ninja Training School. There are five attributes you can train.
When you complete a course, your pet will usually only get 1 point in the trained area. Occasionally, however, you might get a 2 point boost and, rarely, a mega 3 point boost! (And on super rare occasions, up to 4 or 5 or even 6 point boosts have been recorded.)
There is no free Pet Day training here! If you are looking for free training on your pet's annual Pet Day, you must use the Swashbuckling Academy . Each time you take a course, you will be asked to pay with codestones.
to pay and start your training. Courses cannot be cancelled, and once you sign up for a course you cannot sign up for another until you pay (and complete) the course you are already signed up for. The course signup remains even if a pet is transferred or abandoned.
All stats are only allowed to be trained to twice your pet's level, except for Hit Points (Endurance), which can go three times higher than your level. However, if your Hit Points is more than twice your level, you will not be able to train any other stat.
At the Mystery Island Training School, you can train your pets through training courses. Each course takes a fixed amount of time, depending on your pet's Level. Each course raises a chosen stat by one point although occasionally you can get a training bonus which raises that stat by more than one point. Each course is paid with Codestones.
The Secret Ninja Training School is very similar to the Mystery Island Training School. Courses are selected in a similar fashion. (Check out our Ninja School guide for the location.) The main difference, however, is that in order to use this training school your pet has to be Level 250 or higher.
Cap'n Threelegs' Swashbuckling Academy is also follows the same similar pattern as the two other schools. However, the academy is only for pets at or under Level 40. Additionally, courses are paid with Dubloons. Also, courses here take a bit longer than those in the Training School.
For all three schools listed above, you're limited in how you can train your pet. In order to enroll in a course, your pet must have stats less than twice your pet's Level, with one exception. For example, a Level 3 pet with 15 Strength won't be able to train; your Level would need to be 8 before you can train your Strength to 16.
In addition to just normal training, there are also Kitchen Quests. While there is a limit of ten a day, it can be quick and (possibly) cheap training. Each quest gives a reward of either an item, neopoints, or a random stat point to any of your pets.
The Lab Ray is a training method acquired through the purchase of all nine pieces of the Secret Laboratory Map. Once you have all nine pieces, you get a 10,000 neopoint reward and access to the Lab Ray, where you can zap a pet of your choice once each day.
Faerie Quests are randomly given quests where you must fetch an item to make a Faerie happy. This is probably the cheapest method to gain stats, except they're randomly given. Before the fall of Faerieland (and a revamp of Faerie Quests) stats were rewarded to a random pet.
It's always just 24 hours. I get unlucky streaks where I'm asked for several zeds in a row, and then I don't get asked for any for a while (just like all the others). If I have them in my SDB, I pay (unless it's a double zed); otherwise, I wait the 24 hours.
Oh wow, I never even thought about cancelling courses to avoid the expensive codestones! So obvious, and yet it never crossed my mind. I'm about to hit 250 in a few days (currently at 248), so I'm glad I read this forum post before I got there. :)
I made it to Red level right before the war started, so I have been hording since the start of the new battledome. I've yet to run out of them while training, although I'm down to less than 5 of Zed and just used my last Vux. I was shocked to see how much they'd inflated.
Well it would explain why the Zed codestone is the most expensive. It's not that if they favour asking for the most expensive, but if they favour asking for the Zed then that would be the one exiting the market quickest and thus prices going up for it.
I had over two hundred red codestones from the new battledome before I had began training. The distribution of my horde was inverse to the cost. The most common in my horde was Sho and the least common was Zed. I wish I had kept the exact numbers.
I made it! A little earlier than expected :) The first payment requested was a Kew - definitely expecting it to have been a Zed after this board!
It will take me a LONG while before I get to the red codestones but I am for sure keeping them when I win them in the battle dome after reading this board!! lol
