Activity Completion is a section in the settings of every activity and resource that allows you to set how that activity or resource can be marked as complete. Complete can mean different things based on the item, from the student simply viewing, to submitting, to receiving a grade.
To add a Progress bar to a course you will need to turn editing on within the course, then add a new block and select 'Progress bar' from the drop-down menu. The block will then display and will give you two options, 'Select activities/resources' or, 'Add all activities/resources'.

A course completion report is available when course completion is enabled. The report can be found via on "Reports" menu item link in the course Administration block and when "Completion tracking" is enabled for the site and course.
Activity Completion provides a fieldset (named "Student progress") which contains a setting (named "Completion tracking") which enables/disables activity completion in a course. We need to rename the setting to describe activity completion and add a setting to enable course completion.
In this case, unlocking an activity's completion settings will require deleting both the activity's completion data and the course's completion data.
If "Passing grade" is enabled as a criteria for course completion, a grader should have the option of seeing completion status (i.e., "complete" / "not complete") as a column in the grader report.
A cron function will check the criteria and update the course_completion_completions table as necessary. Here's a breakdown of the tasks for each criteria, and will need to be optimised for performance and scalability across all courses:
Course grade: A "student" meets or exceeds a passing grade in the course. Date: After a specified date all "students" are marked as completed in a course. Duration after enrolment: After a specified amount of time after enrolment (e.g., 12 weeks), a "student" is automatically marked as complete in a course.
The course settings can be unlocked (via an "Unlock course completion options" button), however a warning message will be displayed stating that unlocking the settings requires deleting all prior course completion data for the course. Once the completion data is deleted, the settings become unlocked (i.e., un-greyed out).
On Moodle 3.5 here and having an issue with Course Completion.#N#I had to change some of the criteria (threshold for a pass in a couple quizzes), and also the criteria for a course completion (passing grade in the aforementioned quizzes).
Course completion will repopulate (if your sync is running) after this but if the original activity completion was not met it will not give them credit (if they had it before). If you want them to get credit for the original, even if the new criteria wasn't met, you can go to the activity completion report and manually check complete.
Hello. The first thing to do is to check in Site administration > Server > Scheduled tasks that the task 'Calculate regular completion data' is running frequently enough, such as every minute.
Hello again. So it seems you have a problem with cron running. This is not my area of knowledge but I have changed the title of the post to encourage others to respond as well. You can also read the documentation on Cron and Scheduled tasks to troubleshoot the issue.
I don't think you can do that in standard Moodle, sorry. You would have to set completion as automatic not manual. But if you would like others to make suggestions and discuss it further, please start a new forum thread with that subject.
I have a situation similar to one described earlier, meaning that conditional course completion is not checked even though all prerequisites have been met. Even more, the course completion block indicates that activity tracking is not ON, even though it is and checkboxes and checkmarks are shown.
No, you said that the embedded movies course had moved to the past tab, I was just wondering if it did in fact have a course end date?
I am hoping someone can help me. Is there any way to upload activity completion OR Manager complete for a course using a .CSV file for individual users? I have a group of users for whom I want to always manager complete a number of courses.
This tool was exactly what we need. I tried to use it in Moodle 3.9.2+, but without success. Is it only compatible with older moodle versions?
In Moodle 3.5, I have a course with the following completion criteria:
Hi Shirley,#N#Thanks for your response - for some reason the email notification didn't come through.#N#1. No - "Grade to Pass" for each is set to 0.00.#N#2. Yes - all of the activies are selected for course completion. See screenshot of the course completion settings attached.
I have a course currently setup for training. Its is setup with course completion, based on a single activity completion. The one activity is a "Choice".
I have done some more testing and can confirm that my "Activity Completion" and "Course Completion" are not working properly. I have tested a couple times and from a 'student' account I can complete the "Choice" activity and it will show a 'tick' in the completion box next to the activity.
Course completion is set to "ALL activities to be completed" and as you can see, they're all completed for these students. What else can I check? I enabled the course completion block and it shows that these activities are not complete- but it is indicated that they are!
Sorry Frances that you've had no reply to your question. At a guess I wonder if the cron job triggers the checking and it has not been run?
