Modules are the default home page for every new course. That's because Modules are a great way to organize your course materials by week or by topic in order to make course materials easy for students to find.

Pages are just like web pages in that you can type content, link to the content, and embed images and videos.
The Files area is immediately recognizable to anyone familiar with Finder on a Mac or Windows Explorer on a PC. It's a simple way to upload files to Canvas. You can create and organize files and folders just like you do on your personal computer, Google Drive or Box.
In Global Navigation, click the Groups link [1], then view your current groups [2]. To view all your groups, click the All Groups link [3].
Current Groups are groups in courses that are part of the current semester or term. You can view the name of the group [1] and the course name for the group [2]. If a course includes a term date [3], the term date displays next to the course name.
Groups listed under the Previous Groups heading are groups that are part of courses that have concluded. Students cannot view group material nor interact with the group after the course is concluded.
As you author your assessment, be mindful if you students will have specific needs or barriers based on the construction of your assessment. Be particularly aware of the ways you utilize text (and symbols) and avoid the use of images where possible. Additionally, not all assessment types are supported on all devices.
The most important thing to understand about quizzes is that it’s organized into two tabs: (1.) Details and (2.) Questions. Details are where all of the settings, presentation, limitations, and dates are configured. Questions are where the individual quiz items are authored.
Make sure to check the Post Policies before you begin grading. This will determine whether students receive their results automatically (as you grade them) or at the end all together.
Canvas has a fairly capable Quizzes feature that allows instructors to author multiple-choice and open-ended questions fairly easily. It also allows support for both matching and fill in the blank question types.
