If you are receiving Title IV aid (Pell grants and SEOG), and you completely withdraw from classes before completing the term, then unearned Title IV funds must be returned to the federal government. When you are finished with a course and no longer wish to view it in your course list, you can remove it from the Courses section on the Institution page in Blackboard. Blackboard has filters, to adjust the view of the courses you are taking. In your Courses view, click on the drop-down box for "Filter".

It may be helpful, as a college parent, for you to understand the Add/Drop or Enrollment Change period. Most colleges have a period at the beginning of each semester during which students can drop courses from their schedule and/or add new courses to their schedule (if space is available) without penalty.

Options to consider before dropping classes 1 Review the class syllabus to figure out what your final grade could be. 2 Meet with your instructor to learn what you can do to improve your grade. 3 Manage your time to focus on the classes, assignments, and exams that will help your progress the most. Ask your instructors and advisor for help setting priorities. 4 Talk to your instructor about the possibility of an incomplete. (Be aware that an incomplete is almost never possible if you’ve taken the final exam.) 5 Consider retaking the class in the future. 6 Consider dropping all classes, which is possible through the Friday before final exam week.
If you stay in the 12–18 hour range after dropping and/or adding, your tuition won’t change. If you end up with fewer than 12 hours, dropped hours are refunded at the applicable refund period percentage. If you end up with more than 18 hours, added hours are charged at 100 percent of cost.
Submitting a request is not a confirmation that the course has been dropped or added . After the appropriate advisor, department chair, and/or dean has approved your request, you’ll get an email confirming that your request was approved and your schedule has changed. It’s your responsibility to monitor the status of your request.
It will take you longer to earn your degree. It could increase the overall cost of degree. It could affect prerequisite complications if the class you are dropping is a prerequisite for additional required course (s). It could affect the need to repeat courses and/or add a “W” (withdrawal) on your transcript.

Summer Mini Session classes are Summer classes that are being taught during the break between the close of the Spring term until the beginning of the Summer Session 1 (regular).
Please note: Term withdrawal means the student is dropping all courses in all sessions of the term and withdrawing from the university for the current term. The procedure options vary depending on your student affiliation (Graduate, Undergraduate, (and or not) International).
On the flip side, staying in a course you’re not fond of isn’t the end of the world. If you’re confident that you can handle it, then I encourage you to do so. You might be exhausted by the end of term, but also happy and proud of your perseverance. Just prepare to work your ass off a little extra.
Take it during the summer: you’ll have more time for it, fewer distractions, and opportunities to study in the great outdoors (safety permitting).
