If you drop a course any time before the official first day of classes at Hunter, you will receive 100% of your tuition for that course. In the weeks following the first day of classes, tuition refunds will be prorated accordingly:
Newly admitted and readmitted students must claim and activate their CUNYfirst account in order to receive notification of their enrollment appointment. Undergraduate students will be notified of their enrollment appointment details by the Office of Advising after they have committed to Hunter College and paid their commitment fee.
When you are attempting to delete a course or grade (FIN/W/WU/WN/WD grades only), you will need to submit the Deletion Request and the Last Date of Attendance form. The Office of Advising has no jurisdiction over Incompletes or F letter grades.
It must have the departmental stamp and the professor’s signature in order to be processed. If you drop a course after the deadline passes for any partial refund and wish to dispute the charge for dropping it, you will need the Last Date of Attendance form as well.

“A drop from the course is usually done early in the semester and has no impact on the student's grade, GPA or transcript,” Croskey says. However, students should be very aware of deadlines, financial aid requirements and course timelines before dropping a class.
Depending on your college, the drop deadline may be before the second week of online classes begins. Review your calendar to see how long you have been in the class. Complete the drop form if you meet the drop requirement, or contact your counselor about the drop requirement.
Withdrawal usually means the course remains on the transcript with a “W” as a grade. It does not affect the student's GPA (grade point average). Although students may be reluctant to have a “W” on their transcript, sometimes “W” stands for Wisdom.
If you withdraw from a course during an otherwise "normal" semester, most people judging your transcript from the perspective of graduate school admissions will assume that you were not doing well in the course. If you later complete the course with a good grade (A or B), this won't matter much.

When you withdraw from college, you may be eligible for a partial refund of your tuition. But if you don't do anything and fail your classes, you may have to pay the entire amount - even if you didn't attend all or most of your classes.
Dropping a class is much better for your GPA than failing a class or getting a C or D in it is because a dropped class does not affect your grade point average. Dropping a class may also raise your GPA because it can allow you to spend more time on other classes and raise your grades in them.
If you have to withdraw for medical/personal reasons and are currently passing the class, you might want to ask your professor for a grade of Incomplete. It's really important to talk to people who know and support you and/or have knowledge about how the withdrawal process works at your school.

The grade must be changed into a WU. Once it changes over, your request can be reviewed. You should also provide any documentation (medical documentation, letter from employer, boarding pass, etc) if you had extenuating circumstances surrounding your inability to attend the course.
Student Activity, Technology and Consolidated Services fees are non-refundable. Application fees of any kind are non-refundable regardless of whether a student chooses to attend the college or not. Commitment fees are also non-refundable.
If you earn more funds than are required to satisfy your bill, you will be sent a post-withdrawal disbursement notification so you can receive these excess funds.
Refunds for dropped classes are issued within 4-6 weeks after the final drop of 25% refund period.
Federal law states that the amount of federal aid earned is determined by the amount of days the student was enrolled in class (es). The Office of Financial Aid will perform a calculation for each student subject to these rules and send a paper notification in the mail.
A withdrawal from one class is not subject to this calculation; however, it can affect your eligibility to receive financial aid.
Once the term begins, refunds are issued when: Hunter College eliminates a class. (However, if the student is paying a full-time rate and they are still enrolled full-time after the drop, no refund is due.)
