Upper Division: A total of 9 units of General Education Courses must be taken at the upper-division level (courses numbered 100-199) from Areas B, C, or D. These units should be completed within the total unit requirements for Areas B, C, or D.
Upper-Division General Education — 9 Units Minimum Meet all prerequisites before enrollment in upper-division General Education courses. Minimally, all of these courses have a prerequisite of Oral Communication (A1), Written Communication (A2), Critical Thinking (A3), and Mathematics/Quantitative reasoning (B4).
Passing grades are: “A”, “B”, “C”, “D” and all associated with "+" or "-" as well as a grade of “CR” (Credit). If you receive a passing grade, then enroll in the class a third time, those units will not be eligible for financial aid.
Semester Honors are awarded and the notation "Deans Honors List" is posted to the permanent academic record for freshmen earning a 3.0 GPA and other undergraduates earning a 3.25 GPA.
300-399: Upper division courses, normally taken by junior and senior students, which do not give credit toward a master's degree. Sophomore students may enroll in 300-level courses, but freshmen may not without special permission.
(Title 5, Sections 40500, 40501, 40505, 40507) A minimum of 60 units overall must be upper division (defined as any course completed by the student at the 300- or 400-level; this could include transfer work completed at the upper-division level at a four-year institution).

Bachelor's degree candidates who have completed a minimum of 30 graded Sac State units (excluding CR grades) with a GPA of 3.50-3.74 will graduate Cum Laude, students with a 3.75-3.89 GPA will graduate Magna Cum Laude, and students with a 3.90-4.0 GPA will graduate Summa Cum Laude.
Students may repeat an individual course for grade forgiveness no more than one time. A course may be repeated no more than two times without petition. A Petition for Exception to the Undergraduate Repeat Policy will be available during Late Registration.
In order to apply for graduation, a student must meet the following criteria and file by the appropriate deadline: You must have 85 units completed at the point of applying for graduation. You must have a declared Major/Minor on record. You must have an assigned Major/Minor advisor on record.
