Go into your New or Current course (the one you wish to import resources into). Once in the new course click on the Tools/Gear icon in the upper right and select the Import link.
On the "Find a course to import data from:" page check the select button to the left of the course you wish to import resources ( make VERY SURE that you select the correct course to import) from your search results. Click Continue.
On the Backup Settings page leave everything selected, activities, blocks, and filters. We strongly recommend that you then click Jump to final step, which will import your entire previous course. This is the only way to import your gradebook and gradebook structure intact.
Include page: Deselect any resources you do NOT wish to import from your previous course. Click Next.
This page just confirms with green checkmarks or red Xs what will or will not be imported. If everything looks correct click Perform import at the bottom of the page.
With all your imported resources. Be sure to check all links and resources to make sure that everything works as expected and also clean up old files like the previous syllabus and such.
Use the Canvas link checker to automatically check for broken links. The link checker is in the course Settings. Look for the button labeled “Validate Links in Content” on the right side of the page (or at the bottom of the page if your screen is small).
Always check imported content to see if there are typed in dates from the previous semester that need to be updated. Updating due dates in the import process will not change dates typed directly into assignment text, assignment names, or module names.

Add to your course: Site Info > Edit Tools > checkmark Lessons > Continue > title the page > Finish.
Add to your course: Site Info > Edit Tools > checkmark Forums > Continue > Finish.
