Ok, so I already touched on this a little earlier. Basically, the (heavily-influenced) way I see it is that grades should inform students (and other stakeholders) on the students’ progress towards clear, objective learning outcomes.

Non-Attendance: If a student enrolls in a course and has numerous absences or fails to attend, all regular course fees and/or penalty fees will be charged. A failing grade will be recorded on the transcript for all students who do not meet the attendance requirement. All students are enrolled for credit.
Students attending courses that meet for two 45 minute sessions per week (24 times in a semester), will be limited to a maximum of 4 absences. Proportional adjustments will be made at the Director's discretion for courses that meet less than 24 times or more than 45 minutes per session.
