What is the origin of this cliché? I tried to Google it, but could not
For me, a "farmer's market" is a market where farmers sell their farm goods. Usually out of doors, usually in booths ("take me to the Casbah") either of tents or sometimes just the back of the truck, usually produce, and often taking over a large parking lot for 1 or 2 days a week.
In the UK it is a cross between those, a "market garden". -- Nick Spalding
There are two different origins for the word "truck". One derives from a word that meant something like "wheel". On that path, we get the word we apply to a wheeled vehicle.
