In Canvas, a grade scheme is a way of organizing student performance into levels of achievement. Grade schemes can include any number of achievement levels. Each achievement level has its own range, and a grade (e.g., A, B, C) or performance indicator (e.g., Excellent, Good, Fair) to represent it. Once the scheme is applied, the achievement level will appear after the numerical grade in the Canvas Gradebook Total column.

There are two deadlines associated with each term: The first is the last date that Instructors of Record can combine sections using the self-service option in ORCA. The second date is the final date that the Office for Academic Innovation can accept requests to merge course sections ahead of a given term.
When a course instructor publishes their course, the published content is visible to students who are enrolled in the course. However, the course remains in a Read Only state until the first day of the term (set by the part of term start date), at which time students are able to interact with the course content, including posting on Discussions, submitting Assignments, and taking a Quiz. Please note that courses are NOT automatically Published. This needs to be done by the course instructor.

To view an online course, simply click on the desired course name. You will be directed to log into TrainTraq using your UIN and SSO password. Once in TrainTraq, you can find other online training by selecting Course Catalog and entering "online" in the Course Type field.

The course numbering scheme is as follows: 100–199, primarily open to freshmen; 200–299, primarily open to sophomores; 300–399, primarily open to juniors; and 400–499, primarily open to seniors. Figures in parenthesis before the course description indicate the Texas Common Course Number (s).
The unit of credit is the semester hour, which involves one hour of theory or from two to four hours of practice per week for one semester of 15 weeks. Figures following the credit hours indicate the clock hours per week devoted to theory and practice, respectively. Theory includes recitations and lectures; practice includes work done in the laboratory, shop, drawing room, field or other. When courses are cross-listed, credit cannot be received for both courses. Any course may be withdrawn from the session offerings in case the number of registrations is too small to justify offering the course.

Monday, March 15, 2021 at 12 pm. Midterm Grading begins at 8 a.m. on the Monday of the eighth week of the Spring 2021 semester, due to inclement weather. Midterm grades are due by noon on Monday of the ninth week of the Spring 2021 semester, due to inclement weather.
When you have entered grades for all the students, click on the "Submit" button at the bottom of the roster. Clicking "Submit" will save the grades as you have entered them. You will see a statement near the top of your grading roster, alerting you that grades have been received.
If you have more than 25 students in your course, you will notice a list of "Record Sets" at the bottom of the roster, listing 25 students for each record set. When you finish grading the 25 students on your screen, you can click on one of the other record sets. This will auto-submit the grades you have entered on the current page, and will bring up the next 25 students on the roster set on which you click.
Also, exit from the grade roster and then open the roster for the course again. If your grades have been posted, you will see them listed in the "Final" column. Finally, someone with Compass access can go to the SFASLST form and see grades that have been posted for the course.
