How do NCVPS classes work?

NCVPS has 18-week block courses, yearlong courses, and 9-week summer courses. Students are expected to work each day. Our classes are real classes, with real work, and real grades. Summer School: 3-5 hours of work each day (depending on the course), Monday through Friday.

The NCVirtual teacher, lab facilitator, e-learning advisor (ELA), and parent form a core team that can guide students to successful completion of their online courses. Typically, the facilitator is a lab facilitator at a school.

How long are Ncvps courses?

Our summer session is a fast-paced program. An entire 18-week course is taught in just 6 weeks. Students will spend about 4 hours a day working in a course. Students can spread out their work throughout the day.

To Be Eligible For Enrollment: Eligibility: Students must currently be in the 10th grade and their parents must be residents of North Carolina by December 1 of the applicant's 10th grade year. Your parent or legal guardian must complete the NCSSM Residency Form as a part of the application process.

How do I drop a class Ncvps?

After you click the “enroll” option, you will see two columns: “enrolled” and “not enrolled.” Look in the enrolled column for your student. Check the box next to the student you want to drop or withdraw. Then click on the “Remove” button. If your action is on or before Day 10, it will be processed as a drop.

The Virtual Advantage includes NCVirtual courses and programs offered to North Carolina home schools and private schools as well as out-of-state schools.

Grades, Credits, and Diplomas

No, we do not grant credit or offer diplomas. Home and private school students may take classes with us, but they would receive their diplomas from their home-school institution or private school.

Costs

Public and charters schools receive an allotment from the state that covers the cost of their enrollment. Home schools and private schools must pay via credit/debit card or check to DPI. The NCVirtual funding formula passed by the NC General Assembly for public schools does not cover the cost of enrollments for home or private school students.

Technical Course Questions

Absolutely yes if you are taking the class outside of school. You must have regular, daily access to a computer and the Internet. Some of you will be working in your school computer lab; in this setting, your time to complete assignments will be limited unless you can have access to the computer lab before and after school.
