One of the main features in Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3 is the various transformations that Wario can go through by collecting a Power Up Pot. Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3 introduces a new mechanic where the ending is determined by the amount of coins that Wario has collected in the game. The more coins and treasures he collects, the better his new home will be. If Wario does not complete the game with the best ending, the player will be urged to "please retry!" after the credits, and any levels with missing treasures will be marked flashing on the map.
Plot. Desiring to replace or restore the castle he lost to his rival in Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins, Wario sets out to steal a golden statue of Princess Toadstool from the Brown Sugar Pirates and Captain Syrup, which he then intends to ransom for the money to buy his own castle.

Similar to Mario platformers, the game is based on a similar power-up scale - getting hit while powered-up makes Wario tiny, and getting hit again means he loses a life (and all coins from that level).
A single coin is worth 1G, but there are fiften treasures that can be collected which will boost the total up substantially (all fifteen will give 90,000, and the final boss will always give 300). 99,999 total coins and all 40 courses cleared will give the best ending.
Wario's castle makes its first appearance in this title, but it does not appear in what is considered the true ending - maximum prize is a planetoid with Wario's mug, and any lesser prizes will end with the game telling the player to try again.

After draining water from Course 31, some of the heart blocks become inaccessible. To stop Wario from hitting them, programmers put in four invisible blocks, but they're also impossible to hit.
The subroutine which handles the drawing of Wario's gameplay sprite has code to check if bit 6 of the address containing the sprite flags ( 0xA916) is set. Outside of glitch rooms, this bit is never set in-game.
Those tiles are loaded at the last part of Course 1 but never used. The last one seems to be a variant of the bottom part of the wooden boards seen on walls.
