Moving quiz questions from one course to another using export/import
You can, however, export your questions to a file and then import them to another moodle installation. I usually create a quiz in one course, importing questions from GIFT files, using categories and, adding graphics files.
Here's how you can copy quiz/quizzes to another course, without making a new one (you can allways publish your categories). Backup including only quiz/quizzes no user data, no logs, no user files, no course files. Rename the original quiz category to something else, otherwise restore procedure will fail.
Items can only be copied between courses on the same Moodle site. To copy content from Legacy Moodle (moodle.umass.edu) to Moodle in the Cloud (umass.moonami.com), see Restore a Course in Moodle.
In the Moodle course you will copy into, to import the item(s): Open the course you wish to import item(s) into. In the Administration block, under Course Administration click Import. The Find a course to import data from page will open. The Find a course page can display up to ten courses available for you to copy.

Simply bring the quiz up, then use your browser's Print . . . command. When the print dialog box comes up, select the "Adobe PDF" printer rather than your normal hard-copy printer. It will 'print' to a file, and you'll be able to specify where you want that file saved -- that's all there is to it.

inside any course, "Turn editing on", go to Blocks "Add...", and you should see "sharing cart" in the list of blocks in the menu.
Is it possible to copy a quiz from one course to another without having to physically recreate it question by question? The quiz in question leads to a certificate.
Or, plain Import should also work. I believe that will automatically do the backup/restore without going through all the individual steps.
How about moving all the questions in the category used for the quiz under the parent category Default for System, then creating the quiz with all the questions in the published category ?

I'm trying to copy a quiz from one course page to another. I was going to back-up the entire course page and just select the quiz to restore into the new course. Just wondering if this is the best way to do it or whether there another way to copy the quiz over?
Use the import feature from the course you want to copy it into. Then just select the quiz you want to copy.
Re: How do I move a quiz to another course. Click on the resource, then click backup to just back up that one item. Or you can click on the course in which you'd like the resource, click Import and then select only that item from the other course. To delete a quiz turn editing on and click on the X next to your quiz.
As far as I know, there is no way to copy an entire quiz itself. You can, however, export your questions to a file and then import them to another moodle installation.
