Common Core (CC) - Distance Learning Option The CC-DL course is completed through independent study. Students are given access to the three (3) phases and nine (9) blocks of non-facilitated instruction to work through independently on a Blackboard Learning Management System.
DDE offers two options for completing Common Core. Students can enroll in the DL version (independent online courses) or the TASS option. The TASS option offers a resident like experience with two 2 week ADT sessions and 8 monthly weekend IDT sessions.

The Corporals Course and the Sergeants Course DEP does not match the Point of Instruction (POI) and Terminal Learning Objective (TLO) set for BLC.
Advanced Leader Course (ALC) It consists of a 90-day online program and a branch-specific resident phase. This course is for you if you've been selected for promotion to staff sergeant.

This training includes directed or mandatory training common individual and leader tasks, warrior battle drills, unit mission essential list-based collective tasks, and MOS skills.
All soldiers attending BLC must first be recommended for promotion to sergeant. This change goes into effect on June 1, 2022, for active-duty soldiers and Oct. 1, 2022, for reservists.
In a significant change to AR 600-20, paragraph 4-14c, now codifies the customary prohibition of personal or intimate relationships between NCOs (corporal through command sergeant major) and junior enlisted service members (private through specialist).
Soldiers currently in the rank of corporal will have to qualify at a promotion board and graduate from BLC in order to retain the rank. Reserve and National Guard Soldiers will begin to be promoted under the same regulation on Oct.
Advance Leaders Course: ALC is a requirement for promotion to SSG, so no points are given for completing it.
If a Soldier fails to complete ALC-CC, it could be up to two years before he or she can reenroll; therefore, leaders need to make sure they're staying involved with their subordinates' progress throughout the course.
Soldiers dismissed from BLC for academic deficiency may apply to reenter and be re-scheduled for the course when both the unit commander and the learner or Soldier determine that they are prepared to complete the course.
The Senior Leader Course NCO Common Core Competencies (SLC NCO-C3) prepares staff sergeants for duties as a sergeant first class. Using the be-know-do model, students will collaborate and exchange ideas on innovative approaches to leadership and training. Students will examine management techniques, analyze mission command systems, construct a persuasive essay, create platoon training and leader development plans, and learn basic negotiation principles. As a result, students will gain an understanding of the significance of becoming a senior noncommissioned officer and the responsibilities inherent in that role.
The Advanced Leader Course NCO Common Core Competencies (ALC NCO-C3) prepares sergeants for duties as a staff sergeant. The course will challenge students to think critically, generate creative ideas, and learn to solve complex problems. Students will develop skills in written and oral communications using the be-know-do model through a holistic approach. Key lessons include discussing servant leadership, examining the mission command philosophy, writing an analytical essay, preparing and delivering a military briefing, and using the military decision making process (MDMP). As a result, students will be able to train, lead, and conduct operations at the squad level.
